So I hvae a 1987 Toyota 4runner 22re with a 5 speed, 4wd. The transmission was rebuilt last year, but the problem I am facing is that I have a small leak coming out of the back where the driveline bolts up to the back of the transfer case. I have a haynes manual...but it is a little lacking on the step after removing the driveline.
So here is what I have/see:
I dropped the drive line by removing the 4 bolts that were holding it together at the transfer case. There is a large nut inside of the "mounting plate" for the driveline. According to the Haynes manual, it says that after I drop the line, I am supposed to knock the "dust cap" off. But I am wondering do I need to pull the nut first to knock the "dust cap" off, or do I just "knock the dust cap off?"
