How to deal with lots of scratches or paint defects?

Hello All,

My Shadow mica 2007 4runner has been through alot since high school, college, and starting my adult life. One pet peeve of mine is that the doors and hood have amassed scratches from various origins.

I have read alot about resprays but most articles were from owners looking to CHANGE their vehicle color. I would like to keep the same color but have a new coat of paint. I am not sure the advice of, buy a new one, applies to me.

Does anybody have experience with this situation? Serious, serious touch up paint jobs?

I have lots of little scratches all over. It goes in my an exterior detail next week where they will buff it and if needed do a light wet sand. Total cost of about $100 or so.

Contact a reputable detailer in your area, they can do magic with their.various products...around my area its about $125-175.

Watch youtube videos (junkman2000) and learn to do it yourself so you can easily touch-up all your cars and your relative's cars. Buy a Porter Cable DA and if they are just clear coat scratches/ swirl marks then it will be super easy to do yourself.

Mud is my favorite color, haha. Im a fan of vehicles that look obviously used as intended yet taken care of.

I just spent $10 and got a 6oz. can of touch up paint and lightly sanded and wiped down with rubbing alcohol then painted the paint chips and scratches. Just to protect it from rusting as much as possible

Unless you cleared over those as well, the next car wash will pull those off.

I detailed cars for a few years at a toyota dealership and buffed many many vehicles. Black shows every little scratch so chances are that many of them are just in the clear coat and will come right out with a good buff job. I would recommend taking it to a detail shop or dealership that buffs vehicles and have them do it for you. Should be around $100 but will make a world of difference. If they use a DA buffer there should be minimal swirls. If it's a Toyota dealership they should be able to touch it up for you too with the correct paint.

I've been told that's also the case with white. The big advantage with white is it doesn't show the scratches which is good for me since mine has plenty but I wheel so it's all good.

A bunch of guys that are 2WD on here go off road all the time. Look up prerunners

I believe he was talking about his touch up paint. The white is the the only single stage paint from the factory

There are a few Toyota dealerships around me; maybe I can shop the price around them.
