If they're really really bad you'll fail a compression test, and a leakdown test will confirm that bad valves are the culprit. If they're not that bad, then the only way to know for sure is take the valve covers off and get busy with a feeler gauge.

What trouble are you having? What have you done to rule out everything else that could be causing it? Which motor are we talking about, for that matter?

Well I'm getting a ticking noise from it when I start it. It never goes away either, it just started doing it this week

A stethoscope against the valve cover could narrow it down. If it gets louder at one spot that would be a clue. You'll still have to pull the cover and measure the clearance to be sure though.

Always hard to tell from a video, but that could be an exhaustive leak too.
