How to dust my vehicle?

I hate washing my car because it starts getting covered in dust/dirt after a couple of days due to where I live. I don't dust wipe it down because I'm afraid I'll scratch the paint. Can anyone gimme some tips on how to remove this dust? Are there any dusting tools out there that will not harm my paint?

IMHO, No. Any solution that moves dust over your paint will leave swirl marks. You may or may not be able to see them depending on the color of your paint.

I have the large Griot's duster and it works great. It doesn't leave any scratches or swirls and I'm really anal about any swirls or marks/mars on my truck.

Safe to use.

That's a universal problem -- especially now that spring has arrived and the pollen will soon start.

I occasionally will use a duster I got years ago that does not seem to scratch the surface. However, I believe that any duster is only good for minor dust and dirt -- meaning, not good for too much unless you use it every time you drive the vehicle.

It's just easier to wash it when needed. Use a pressure washer (an electric model is about $100 - $150), and you wind up with a much better result than just dusting.

I have been using my duster for about 6 years and really like it, but like jharris said, it is only good for light dust. If you go down a dirt road and get a bunch of dust on it it would be a better idea to just wash it. Sometimes, if I have a fresh coat of wax on it and it gets dusty, I will stop by the pressure washer, then dry it off. For the most part I wash mine every week and use my duster every day between washes. I usually just run the duster over it in the morning before I leave. It helps that I can park it in the garage.

Those dusters actually work pretty well. I used one for a black pickup I used to own and I was very happy with the results.

Keep in mind, however, that you should only use it in the shade or on cool surfaces only. They are coated with a light paraffin wax and it will leave slightly visible streaks if the vehicle's surface is hot.
