I am trying to order a lift kit finally and am trying to figure out how I know if I have an x reas system in my runner? I have an 06 4wd sport...

You will see fluid lines hooked up to all 4 shocks if you have it.

so if I have it then I need to replace the actual shocks and take out the system? what is that going to affect if anything at all?

99% sure you have XREAS as it was standard equipment on Sport models.
Does you rear shock look like this?

To replace: XREAS is a cross linked system, so if you want to replace one, you MUST replace the one opposite of it. For example, if you want to replace the front passenger side, you must replace the rear drivers side. You can only do this once. A third time requires an entire system replace.
To remove: If you want rid yourself of it, rip out the lines as well as the canisters (look on picture):

unfortunately yes my shocks look like that..so if I do any kind of suspension lift I will have to do new struts as well then?
