How To: HVAC Bulb Replacement - 4th Gen

Some of my HVAC lights are out so I've been doing some research to figure out how to fix. Thanks. to those who have helped out.

I thought I'd consolidate all info in 1 place for folks, making it REAL easy (hopefully) for others to do this fix themselves.

Hate to bump this thread from the dead but all these HVAC bulbs are #7219 12v bulbs. You can get a box of 10 on Amazon for $5.

Just re-use the base and color filtering rubber cap that came on the original bulb.

Edit: the bulbs behind the screen are #8640

Sorry to bring this post back up.

Followed Chadwickity's advice and got the bulbs off Amazon for dirt cheap. 20 minutes later the HVAC controls are nice and bright again.

Anyone know the bulb number for behind the info screen? These bulbs are larger than the HVAC controls.

I got the whole HVAC unit OEM set on ebay for $39.

Took all the fuss and mess out of it for me and I used the PDF to install.
Replacing all at once made sense since my info screen was flickering occasionally and everything else on that diagram but the one vent control knob was out.

Yeah, I saw the Toyota part #. Was trying to see if anyone had a replacement bulb type instead of getting the whole part since it was really easy and far cheaper using the bulbs from Amazon (I even have 5 spare now) for only $5.

I was hoping to do the same for the others. But not the end of the world if can't find them.

Ah, gotcha.

I considered those leds, but I also know once I replace a couple or just do the HVAC, they might not dim/blend with the others as well and my concern is that I would have an entire LED dash conversion on my hands ... so its a slippery slope.

I did do the glove box in LED which I think was a good application for LED. If the puddle lights in the doors or my dome lights go out, they will likely get LED replacements for them as I think those would blend in as an improvement.

Picked these up on Amazon, replaced the dead bulbs behind my LCD, but the bulbs are SUPER dim. Don't nearly give the brightness the OEMs do from the dealership.

With that said, the 'replacement' of just the bulb is INCREDIBLY simple, if only we could find bulbs that were as bright as OEM!

You mean the two in the center behind the LCD? I saw another thread that stated this is a 6V connection vs the rest of the bulbs at 12V. This is why it's dimmer then the rest, but strange the 12V Amazon vs whatever the dealers are have a difference there. If the bulb is smaller even at half voltage, I bet the filament is smaller too which explains it better. This is why you can't easily use the 12V LEDs for these two as stated before due to the 6V unless you mod it.

Edit: I think the slightly larger 14V has a bigger bulb/filament that will work in the two behind the LCD and work better then the 12V ones. The video even states this.

2007 T4R Climate Control Backlights - Specifics?

I am attempting to specifically identify LED replacements for the OEM incandescent bulbs in the climate control panel in a 2007 Toyota 4Runner SR5. Attached photo reflects those OEM bulbs and bulb numbers.

I've seen in other posts that the Samsung 5630(t4); 5630(t3); and 5628(t3) bulbs will work but details are lacking on specific sources and specifically which of these bulbs replace which of the OEM incandescent bulbs.

Also, when trying to identify LEDs, I don't see addressed anywhere the varying height/length of the bulbs.

Finally, I have scoured internet sources and the 5628 is not to be found anywhere. Can someone identify where the 5628 can be purchased? Or is this supposed to be 3528 instead?

In summary, I just need very specific LED identities (item or part #) and sources for each of the bulbs in the climate control panel:

90010-09018
90010-09019

I replaced 1 of the 2 bulbs that illuminate the display of Range, MPG, outside temp etc. The round controls for 1) Fan speed 2) Auto/AC and 3) Mode all light up. But #2 the Auto/AC also has temp UP and Down. Do those 2 light up ?????? Everything else lights up but not the Up and Down. Should they?
