How to identify OME shocks and springs

I'm new to 4runners and to the forum, which has been an amazing resource for clueless newbies like me. :thumb3:

Is there a way to identify the model/lift height of Old Man Emu springs and shocks from the spring/shock body?

Anyway, I just got a 1996 Ltd in good condition, except for some underchassis parts that need replacement. I was contemplating on getting a 2 inch lift kit, thinking the springs and shocks were still stock. Taking a closer look and wiping away some of the crud, however, I noticed that the front and rear springs are yellow, and the yellow front shocks have remnants of OME stickers. Apparently, my 4runner was already lifted. I need to decide whether to get additional lift, or if my intended lift will need a diff drop or other parts. I can no longer contact the original owner, and the person I bought it from is clueless, just like me.

the yellow springs I have seen are 1" lift springs from Performance Products (a company no longer in business)

AFAIK, OME springs never came painted yellow. Either you have some other brand of springs or someone painted your OME's yellow. The only way to ID OME springs is by the tag on them. i doubt the tag is still there

Hmm. It seems I will just have to live with the shocks and springs for a while. Another question, though. Is it possible to install a spring spacer (1 inch or so) only on the left side? The 4runner has an annoying left side sag, especially on a full tank of gas.
