How to keep DRL on

newb question: how to keep the DRL ON at night?

Is there a reason why you want these on as well? You can run with the fogs on when the headlights are on. You can even change the bulb to be more of a yellow tone (some people have done that here) to acheive the "lexus look" for the front end.

it just for fun. i just want the front corner bumper light to be ON at night. so at night all the front light are ON (fog, corner bumper light, headlight).

Of course you can and part of the fun is finding out how. I would start with the electrical schematics to isolate the circuit and see what controls the loop.

i think i know how.

since DRL only use 1 of 2 fillament for DRL/Signal, maybe i can use the other fillament (i don't think it's used for anything because there's only 2 wires + -) and connect it to the parking light (the one on the headlight). So at night, i can have that light up and still have my Signal. At day time, it's just gonna be a DRL/Signal

let me know if i'm wrong

Even easier hook to to the driving/fog lights since its next to it. You just have to leave the driving/fog (clear) light switched on.

...or you can forgo the schematics and use the search button. Look for a thread about enabling/disabling DRL. In there are instructions for adding a switch to allow to you to turn them on/off or put them in the factory default (auto) mode.

You're on your own there. You may not be able to find anything with a factory fit but you can probably find something that can be custom fit into one of the switch blanks.

You're not wrong. That is how I did it. Inserted a terminal for the unused pin on the socket and wired it to the live wire on the small parking light. PITA for some of the connections but all the wires are there to work with.

A number of threads question the fact why a dual filament bulb was used on vehicle with stock DRL since only one filament is ever used, but I believe it still remains unanswered.

On another note...

People who do not have stock DRL, do not have 4157's in the front, they have 7440. It is a single faliment with a smaller diameter (more of a narrow bulb). The bad news is that the sockets are NOT the same size as the 4157 sockets, the 7440 sockets are smaller. This isn't a *real* big deal, since you could go with the 7443 (the dual filament counterpart) , but in order to do this mod, you would have to switch out the sockets to add 7443 sockets for access to both filaments. So, it may be a little more involved for those of you who have added the DRL yourself. Keep in mind I have an 04 Sport and believe that this would be the same across the board.
