How to remove front hub on 2WD?

I'm repairing the front end after a lower ball joint failure. The steering knuckle was ground down in one place when it skid on the cement highway during the ball joint failure.

I got a used steering knuckle from the wrecking yard off of a low mileage vehicle. The dust plate got bent when the wrecking yard set the car on the ground after someone else removed the front tire before I got there.

I want to reuse the dust plate off the original steering knuckle, so the hub needs to be removed from the knuckle to do this. There is info for this for 4WD, but I'm not finding any info about this for 2WD.

How do I remove the hub?

to do this you need a press. there is a dust cover on the back of the knuckle, remove it, then use a special tool to remove the nut, and then you can press out the hub, however doing this will demolish the bearing and snap ring.

Hmmm... Think maybe I will cut the dust cover neatly down the center on the old knuckle and mend it after installing it on the replacement knuckle.

Or just cut off/straighten what you can on the replacement? Its not a hugely important part...
