Has anyone done this repair with using a hub and bearing removal and install tool that allows your to leave the steering knuckle on the car?

Take them off. When I did mine, removing the knuckle from the vehicle was the easy part...
Doing the first side, I broke the bearing press I was using. I found out to not use an impact on the big press bolt, use a ratchet or breaker bar. The press had bearings that turned into dust from the impact. After I messed that up, I went and bought a 20t press and the rest of the hub bearings pushed out without issue.
Before doing the job, I picked up a second set of used knuckles and did new bearings on them so all I had to do was swap them onto my 4runner the next weekend and minimized down time.
There is only a few videos on YouTube that do the 2wd bearings and the 4x4 setup is not the same with different steps.

PreRunner Tacos will have the same front bearing setup, which might help find other write-ups. The 4WD manual hubs have similar (thought I don't think 100% the same) bearings too.
