How to run 285's without spacers..

Correct, no spacers.

Any rubbing mentioned by fightman can be trimmed but that just comes with the territory spacers or not.

I'm not saying spacers are problems but it adds one more variable to consider when/if you get vibrations. Typically its just a balance issue (from what I'm finding out after researching the reasons why). Not saying not to get them but its my preference to try not to use them.

I may change my mind when it comes to deciding if I want sell my 80 series wheels in order to do the tundra brake upgrade.
 
Trimming was pretty simple. Just used a pencil to mark off the area I wanted to cut... and used my Jigsaw to do the work. A dremel with a cutting disk would be good as well. :)

I only trimmed about a half inch on either side. So not much trimming to do. :)

*edit: Just noticed that you have the limited style flares.... may be a little more tricky for you....

I would like to add that putting a 1.5" wheel spacer on a wheel that has 4.5" back spacing does not add anymore stress than running a wheel with 3" back spacing. As mentioned above, as long as your take proper care for them (Locktite) and use a reputable company you will be just fine.
 
Damn.. this is a hard decision.. I just really don't want my car looking stupid with 265's on there, I'm nervous its going to look too small.. :redbrick:

Get the 285s. Why? Because if you get the 265 you will always wonder what 285 look like on your truck.

I vote get the black steelies 16x8. Sell your 3 spokes for $100. Trimming isn't bad on a limited so don't let that scare you off.

If you decide to sell your split 3 spokes, I can tell you how to ship them with relatively little hassle and fairly cheap.

the only logical way to solve this problem is to not think about anything, just buy the 285's you want, and then get a knife and a hammer and do work. after, put lots and lots of preety pictures for us :P

I know they look skinny from head on, but aren't they not as harsh for the car and such? I was going to run the maxxis bighorns on them;p
 
I don't find them to be harder on the truck.... throws off your Speedo and ODO though.... but meh... :D

I run the 265's during the winter months, and 285's during the summer.
