How to shut the trac control and/or ABS off on 4th Gen model 2004?!

I agree, great discussion! I see what you mean about the sand, and can understand where 'ol 4x4 could be better there. I don't have nearly as much experience driving in sand as i do in snow/ice. Honestly, i used to be all about 4x4 when I had my jeep and then my view changed after owning the audi. I was pumped to have what i thought would be the best of both worlds when i got this 4R, but was a little disappointed with both configurations initially, and i blamed it on the nannies. Hopefully i get the opportunity to play with unplugging the connector on the master cyl in some deep snow, to see how that may help. if it does, i will perform a mod with a switch, and hopefully feel better about the winter performance.

seems that this thread got really heated up on Torsen diff :)

Basically i don't have any experience driving on snow / ice or mud even as weather conditions in my country "Egypt" is much dry and all my experience is about Sand dunes / Sand & gravel roads.

moving up to the good news, i have found a better switch plug on Brake master cylinder as in picture below , it switches off " VSC , TRAC & ABS " all together and no buzzer sound runs on. so if you decide to unplug this switch you should take good care & rather know what you are doing well.

Sorry you had to come up with that yourself. It's a well known technique that shouldn't have been hard to find out about. If I had paid as much attention to the thread topic as I did to a derivative, you wouldn't have had to.

Anyway, glad you got onto it. Now go hit some more dunes!

Yes JB, just so you know... "the very well known technique" as you say was never mentioned anywhere here in T4R and everybody was going for cutting wires and connecting switches and bla bla bla...

I've seen it mentioned in about 5 or 6 threads on here.

It's been mentioned quite a few times. Here's one of mine. It's even a sand thread. Right up your alley. But like I said, it should have been easier for you to get an answer to.

The switch mod is not something I've ever cared much about as the diff lock is a quick, effective solution and the plug is always there should I happen to need it. Nearly everyone seems to want a button instead of knowing about the plug, though, so I tend to ignore the subject when it comes up. Btw, I've never done it, but disconnecting and reconnecting the MAF sensor is supposed to work, too, but not quite as seemlessly as the gray plug.

just read it know, seems i didn't find it before as i was always searching by "vsc or trac or ABS off... thanks anyway ;)

Guys, one of my friends just told me that unplugging the YAW sensor may have a certain number of times same as the airbag plug then it will disables itself and i will have to buy a new one by then, is that correct?!!!

I've been unplugging and replugging that switch for quite awhile and I've never had a problem with it. I had the same issue with these same systems for awhile until someone brought this mod to my attention (unplugging the cable near the brake reservoir) but if anyone has any information about this being bad for my T4R, PLEASE let us know!

i believe as long as you have already exceeded 10 times without any problems, then there is no such thing"limited to a certain number of unplugging/plugging"... it was just a fart we can say :D
