Oi, (photos at bottom)
A little about myself first. I moved up to Anchorage, AK in Jan 2013 after graduating from UW-Madison. Back in Wisconsin I was rocking a '92 Buick Century and an '82 Honda CB750. Being a poor college kid I didn't have much interest in driving things with 4 wheels, and certainly not wheeling. Well, fast forward a year in Alaska and now I have a 97 LTD (Sue) and as of a little over a month ago, an '86... uh DLX? (Penelope). I got the 97 from a family member when I moved up and instantly was hooked. Like holy shit, I can sleep in this ****er? Rad. Waaay more fun then the old Buick. However, I was still pretty oblivious to the whole scene associated with truck building and wheeling.
Then at the beginning of summer at a little hippy music and drug fest I met my first "Yota" guy. Totally coincidental that he just happened to set up his camp next to mine with his and a friends built first gens. He runs a little toyota salvage operation called Yota Barn in his spare time. Well well, the spark was lit. I fell in love with the lines of the g1s (those rear side windows witch bend at the roof, the angular fenders, the cheesy vinyl decals, the removable top...) and spent the second half of the year looking on craigslist for G1s.
After a year of payments to my aunt I finally owned my 97 and found the perfect g1 on craigslist for $2k. It's an 86 (ifs, I know... I almost had an 85 but the guy sold it before i could get the cash from the bank...).
Which brings me to today. I've cleaned up Penelope to make her into a daily driver over the past month or so. This included
-Swapping in SR5 seats from a g2 (SOOOO much better, no more linkage bar in the back).
-New clutch master cylinder
-New weather stripping for rear window
-Replacing the broken window regulator.
-New washer fluid pump
-Remove tow hitch and plastic/mounts around rear bumper (all set for tube).
So I've got a few months to pay off the bank for Penelope but then it's upgrade time. Which leaves the delema, which one do I work on first? and what do I do to each?

Anyways, Keep the build threads coming, I like the inspiration.
ps. Penelope has no rear window wiper, which really makes the topper look nice and clean.
