hey everyone! just got my hands on an 88 4runner with the 3.0 here in texas to be a daily driver and doggie hauler. bought it from the original owner and it's pretty much bone stock. plans are to keep that way... at least for now hahaha!

Welcome.

Awesome that you are investing on a 1st Generation.

What part of Houston you at?
How many miles on it?

thanks for the warm welcome! i live in the woodlands, just north of houston. she's got 171,000 miles on her... and after a bunch of reading, i've come to the conclusion she has a leaking fuel pulsation damper. haven't stuck my hand back there yet to feel for wetness but all the other signs point to it. will be fixing that before i drive it again, i don't want a fire.

the suspension is sagging pretty good in the rear, those bumpstops aren't too far away from hitting! i've seen the mods to raise it but i kind of like how it looks now, sort of like a baja truck. i don't want to be hitting those bumpstops though either so i haven't really decided on what to do about that yet.

i was a samurai guy most my life (parents bought one new when they came out). i did have an 86 2wd toyota pickup with a 22r that i drove for a while in high school and a 97 2wd rav4 after college. My brother had a 79 4x4 pickup with a 20r back when we were in school as well. i recently sold my samurai just in time to pick this puppy up the following weekend. i've always liked the 4runners, but 1st gen runners mainly because of the removable top. i'm seeing parts can be hard to find for the normal stuff that has problems like the dreaded "L" trim. yup, mine are rusted pretty bad. oh well, i will get to that when i get to that.

Welcome txcrawl, nice rig sure it won't
look like this for long hanging around these guys and gals on the forum.

nice! and Congrats!

Looks like the first thing you should do is fix that saggy butt, lol

I just bought new springs for my 95 4R for $60
