Hi all... I've been browsing this site for the past 3 months trying to help in my decision with choosing a V8 or V6 4Runner... After reading the many threads of v6 VS v8, I was sold on getting an '05+ V8 Sport model but couldn't find one in my budget. I searched for 2 months for a black 2wd Sport V8 but saw a good deal in the local Craigslist ads for a 2005 SR5 V8 but in Silver, only 86k mi for only $8000!!!! One owner too! So I thought what the hell, might as well compromise the color to save a few thousand... So I went and looked at it and found it a little rough and told the seller about my dillema... She said she would hold it for me until I was sure I wanted it... The next day (Yesterday), I got an email from somebody who saw my "Want ad" on craigslist that I forgot I had even posted back in February... He said he had an '05 SR5 but in V6 and pacific blue with 149k ...
The problem with this one is, at around 100k mi, the spedometer broke and he put in a used one with 32k miles. Thankfully, he had exact records of everything so the mileage was easy to determine...
Long story short, I ended up getting the V6 Blue 4runner after having my original search set for a Black V8 Sport...... I don't regret it either, I'm surprised how peppy the V6 is and feel it suits my needs perfectly since I won't be towing anything.
Question for you all is, how much do you think is fair for a 2005 4runner with a minor dent on passenger front fender and replaced odometer, but with recorded mileage to determine correct current miles.?
My plans for this truck are as follow:
Plasti dip whole truck
Plastip Wheels
Install front push bar or bully bar
Replace stock muffler
Eventually get a Sport hood
