Hows this under body look to you?

Ready to pull the trigger on this 06 limited with 98k on it for 14k. I just got the pics of the under body... what do you think? Half its life its been in PA and other in TX.

Looks like someone coated the underside for you!

I just did my skid plates to cover up the surface rust.

So I shouldnt be worried? Im in Michigan and the truck is in TX... not sure if I should just put a offer on it or try to get a inspection. Ive lost 4 4runners from taking too much time over the 3 past months. These trucks move fast!

Looks really good! It's a southern truck, so that's probably right. Has it spent it's whole life in the south? Get a carfax to check.

Half its life was in PA, Pittsburgh.

It looks pretty amazing, really. You should be thrilled, not worried.

playing devils advocate here but what if it was rusty and they just sprayed it all to cover it up and sell quick? Used car dealer trick.

If you know what your looking at, its usually very obvious when someone does this. There is a difference between some light surface rust/no rust and them coating it for protection and lots of rust just sprayed over.

mine had a lot of surface rust, but i took a hammer to it and it all seemed very solid except for the radiator support area, but that didn't bother me..I just recently sprayed my entire frame to stop future rust.
Yours looks good, but i'd check it with a hammer.

Thats EXACTLY what I am afraid of.

It looks like a protective type job to me vs someone covering stuff up. That being said, if the vehicle owner will not let you have it inspected by your own 3rd party, and your not going to fly out to drive it back, dont buy it.

Ill call and see if they will take a deposit to hold it... pending an inspection. See what they say. Im hoping to grab this for 13-13.5k

car is in texas.. did it spend its whole life there? if so i wouldn't be too concerned..

if it didn't spend its time there, and it was up north.. I would be worried..

I'd lean on preventative protection and not a cover up. It looks pretty uniform. If they sprayed it on over rust, you'd see uneven surfaces from the rust bubbles and pits underneath the coat.

And that looks like a really clean truck and a good deal. I picked up my 07 Sport 4wd for $13k with 140k miles. Feel like I got ripped off now looking at yours!

Called and they have no problem with a inspection. Just hope I can get it inspected before someone else grabs it.
