I am on the fence about new flares as well, it is a 4WD vehicle anyway! Going to finish up on the easy attempts, see what I think...and go from there!!
Ouch! But, they say that chicks dig scars...
Well let't hope so, I could use all the help I can get!!!!
As of now, I took it to the local body shop and had them do a quick buff job. The scar is 1/10th of what it was originally but some of the scars on the fender went straight through the paint. I am on the fence about next step, as I fear painting will not be a perfect color match and I am somewhat OCD when it comes to that stuff!
Correct, you need to order the limited style SW bumper, be sure to post up photos when you get it!! I absolutely love mine.
It should be noted that this part is ~110 lbs. Depending on your suspension, you may have some sag in the front. I adjusted my coilovers in the front up 3/4" to level the rig back out (this process can be seen earlier in the build)

Well that is quite the compliment!! It has been one heck of a project, as you can see if you read through the build. I can hardly hole a candle to other rigs on here (Ripcord, BFAD, COB, Fightman....etc), but I certainly do my best!!!
You will get there, just remember 1 step at a time and take the time to do each step right!!
Long time no talk Ripcord!! My Winter season is officially over for 2 reasons:
1.) Snow is melted so much that the previously unmaintined snowmobile road to my house is now officially open to vehicles
2.) Bent the lower Control Arm on the sled, as well as possibly the bulkhead. Those will need to be replaced before I can ride again!!
However, this means that the time has come for some wrench time on the Hulk!!

Alright, so currently I am doing my research on replacement rear coils...and am looking for the expert opinions
Initially I had a decent rake, and was not completely in love with the look. However, I truly despise the saggy bottom look that 4Runners are so prone to get with the stock suspension!
That being said, here is my situation: Here is a photo immediately after new tires and the SS 1.2 kit:
Now, I understand that the rear coils will relax over time and I currently have around 30K miles on the coils. I have also since added a ton of weight in the way of recovery equipment...but the biggest change was the CBI rear bumper and swing-away/spare (~280 lbs).
Lastly, I also adjusted the front suspension up ~1" to prevent extra rubbing that was incurred from the SW front bumper.
END RESULT: Rear end is now slightly lower than the front. This photo does not demonstrate this condition perfectly, but it does offer somewhat of a comparison:
Soooo, now to the question: Currently with the 1.2 System, the coils are the LC 7 wraps, which I have learned have a higher spring constant than the 8 wraps. What coils does everybody recommend for this setup to bring back end up at least an inch, and offer high performance?!?!

OME 861's. Buy them tomorrow. Install them. Be happy.
I'm going to pick up a pair for my truck. I meant to do it today, but I forgot because I was putting the new axle in. Dirtco and I just had a discussion about this because w/all his extra gear he's running into the same problems you are. I'm anticipating the same issue once my CBI goes on.
Brian2Sun, Gerdo, 4Runit, and 05 LTD are some of the guys running 861's currently that you can look at for an example of the stance you can expect. All of them seem very happy w/the 861's.
LC coils have about 170lb/in spring rate. OME 861's are 220lb/in. They are a "low height, heavy load" coil for 80 series LC's. Comparable to a stock LC coil, but with more load carrying capacity.

By the way Ripcord, I am still patiently waiting like a kid on Christmas Eve for your cargo box. I have a couple plans drawn up, but in my nature I am slow to pull the trigger. Get on it already, so I can copy it this Summer! I am anxious to get on this, as I have been dormant for 4 months now!

East Portal of the Gunnison River. Early season fishing, fish were still somewhat temperature dragging, but still an awesome day!
***CEL came on for me on the way there, I predict this is the 2nd time for the PO420; which I think means the downstream MAF sensor or the Cat (which I have 2). Feedback is welcome, if you can get past the fish***
And no, BFAD these do not compare to 30" muskies!!!!

AWESOME, man! You guys killed it with the nice Bo-Bo's. I've never fished that area, but I've always wanted to try it. Looks like a beautiful area, and that water looks JUICY.
Muskies have their place, but my favorite fish will always be Trout. Good work man, that's big fish all day in my book!
PS... I notice you've got a little grey beard going on there. How old are you anyway?

Great fish! I love this part of Colorado. I realized I'd never posted in your build thread till now. Love, love, love your rig. All the right moves in all the right places.
BTW: Is your address actually Cimarron? I've been up Cimarron Rd several times to stay with some friends at their cabin during the holidays. The cabin was probably 7-8 miles the road...past the old YWAM camp. Didn't know if you were anywhere near there.

Yes, my address is Cimarron, however I live about 25-45 minutes (depending on the season) from there. If you continue towards Gunnison from Cimarron, you will see Alpine Mountain Road (on your right). This is a county maintained road for 5 miles into a 'subdivision' called Arrowhead. Past the lodge at Arrowhead, the road is no longer maintained so it is snowmobile access only during the winter. I live ~1.5 miles from the end of the maintained Alpine Road in Arrowhead. You familiar with this location?

Looks like really good times. I really need to visit CO sometime. Every pic I see reminds me of the Sierra's; I camped there many times growing up. I assume it just a lot colder in CO.

Brian, I lived in Bakersfield for 2 years and spent a lot of time in the Southern Sierras, over to and including Mt. Whitney. They are quite similar, especially when you get to the higher elevation country. You are right with the temperature, usually it's about 3 degrees colder per 1000' elevation gained. This is fairly accurate, as its usually 10 degrees cooler year round at my house which sits at 9500'

I don't think I've ever been up your road(?) Around that part of Hwy 50, I've really only been up Cimarron Rd (as I know it), the one that goes all the way up to Lone Jack reservoir. But maybe there are different names for the roads...because the "subdivision/lodge" thing called Arrowhead sounds just like the little place up the road that I'm talking about. But again, maybe not.
I'm really only good with the local roads that are south of you around Lake City. That's where I lived for a while, about 15 years ago.

Thinking the reservoir you refer to is what I call Silver Jack, and that is just West of me. If you have not seen 'Arrowhead' signs everywhere then you are likely on the Cimarron road that is just East of Cimarron after the only store there. It takes you South of Sheep Mountain, of which will still be West of Alpine Road (my driveway)
Best plan is to just come back here, and we will wheel all the roads to get back familiar with the area!

Ha, yes, Silver Jack! And that's what I thought...probably just west of you. I'll be in Lake City the first week of June! If I get a day to go wheeling without the kids (more freedom to be adventurous) I'll get in touch.
