Thanks Ripcord! I have been waiting for someone on here to do it, as it involves a good amount of cutting on the body, and I would predict it will need a piece of sheet metal welded back on to prevent rattling and rust. However, you may have sparked my fire, I will begin doing my research!

I threw those tail lights on around St. Pattys Day, I was unsure of them at first but I like them now....

Curious to know why you couldn't pull a trailer with the spare tire in place? Did it interfere with the trailer tongue?

Bandit, the smaller stock spare tire did not interfere with the trailer, but the 285 width did. It came in contact with the vertical post that raises and lowers the wheel on the trailer. Which would not be an issue if you did not want to turn! If I turned the tire would have torn that post right off the trailer.......

I started with the notch 2 up from the top, and switched it to the middle one a few months back. If I remember correctly, nominally that is labeled as the 3" mark initially, and 3.5" after the adjustment.

Seed Planted

Been debating this for some time, and I think I have the plans drawn up on how I want it..........I am sure you guys will figure out what it is....even though this drawing is pretty crude!!!! Drafting software is on home computer, so whilst I sit here at work and train my replacement, I have been playing with it. Certainly things will change when I get to construction phase, but it will probably look something like this!!

There are about 1/2 dozen other projects in the queue right now, some larger than others. I just need to make the decision to pull the trigger and spend the money or not!! The biggest one rhymes with 'scthirty fives'!!! Been doing a ton of research on it, and my biggest concern happens to not be the re-gearing, or the trimming.....for some reason I am still tied up on what wheels to run!!!

Any input is always appreciated

Not into the rear seating area. Going to go up flush with the back seat. Plan is to have a small cubby for emergency gear that is rarely needed between the wheel well and the seat with its own door...as well as a small one on the back side of the wheel well. The drawer will be the full length, and the width will be from the wheel well to the center of the 50/50 split. Ultimately I want the finished product to have a flat top entirely, as to make it user friendly for additional cargo......

I had this problem with my boat trailer until I got this.

Ball Mount Hitch with 6" Drop

The other option is a swiveling trailer jack.

I like it well enough, to be honest if you took the muffler completely off these smaller motors it would not be obnoxiously loud like an un-corked Diesel. That specific muffler has pretty minimal restrictions to relieve the restriction pretty well, and was relatively affordable. I like the sound, and I do not find that it 'hums' while I am driving on the highway, etc. Performance-wise there is not a huge increase in noticeable horsepower, but I would say that I can notice a difference with the throttle and maybe a bit more power

Part number....don't really know what you are looking for. Flowmaster 40 series is what it is??

I have been delinquent, and for that you all have my apologies!! Word on the street is that a picture is worth 1,000 words, so instead of explaining first I will show you where these months have gone!!

Last thing I saw stateside:

Drummmmmm Roll PLEASE.............Here is my new work environment, it is a Semi-Submersible Tender Assist drilling rig/production platform. I am the Drilling Engineer for the operation, and it is AWESOME!!!

Alright so I know that work is a poor excuse to be neglecting the Hulk, but I had to show you guys what's new in my life!! I work 28 on/28 off and this rig is off the Coast of Angola (South African country). Takes 2 days to get here/home, and then I have the remainder of the 28 days to play!

Once the dust settles, it will give me ample time to really get serious about throwing 35's on...and doing the necessary work for that project.

Major SQUEAK

Alright,
So truth be told I have been VERY irritated recently, as there is a huge squeak that is happening when I am on a dirt road (which is basically all the time for me)......and squeaks make ME VERY ANGRY

Source of the rattle/squeak is obviously unknown, it is happening in the rear of the truck. At first I thought it was all of my recovery gear/maybe the roll bar I installed so I pulled all that gear out. Squeak still present. So then I had my Dad literally ride in the back of the rig while I drove, he was convinced it was from the back drivers side but could not pinpoint it.

It almost sounds like the rear hatch is somehow loose (but I cant imagine it is since I left bump stop ON when I put the CB antenna mount on). The rear bumper also has plenty of clearance from the fender....


ANY thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Mine squeaks and rattle back there as well but mine is due to a couple of the clips of the interior trim panel being broken by the previous owner.

That offshore rig is insane! I toured a couple of rigs that were drilling down about 10,000 feet and I thought those were big. I can't imagine working on that. Has to be a lot of fun though. Sounds like an awesome experience.

Thanks man!! It's been some years, $$$, blood, sweat and tears along the way!! I have a laundry list of things that I still really want to do, I am just tied up on this big squeak in the rear right now!!

The rig is really pretty much an engineering miracle, I see something new every day and everything is absolutely enormous. Derrick rated for 1.4MM pounds, and drilling 18,000 - 30,000 foot wells....just makes for some monster iron!! Very humbling, and I hope to learn a ton from the experience!!

Just FYI I have been somewhat busy, but I think that the photos may have been discarded with a virus that ran throughout the rig here....BUT I did accomplish the following:

1.) Limb risers (loved the look, but the cables were not tight enough for my OCD nature...so they are temporarily off and in the shop awaiting the Winter re-work)

2.) Clear corner lenses, I like the look a lot - very clean

3.) I bought the Euro spoiler from Burtmann, but I am nervous to pull the trigger on the install (have not seen many writeups on it and don't want to drill the holes WRONG). But when I get the courage, it is color matched already and I think will look SICK

4.) Changed the arrangement of the rear bumper (pulled off swing away, and mounted spare on top)

5.) Some visual stuff like new stickers

35's 35's 35's. To get there I am debating re-gearing all the way around, and obviously may need to do some trimming.

Good stuff man. You and Rickashay are some traveling men when it comes to work. When you said Africa I thought Africa as in on land. Have you guys seen any marine life out there? Sharks? Great White sharks? They have those down there in S. Africa, you know?

I love checking out huge machines like that. It reminds me of the Generating Stations I dispatch. I get to tour them a couple times a year and the scale of things always takes me by surprise.

I look forward to seeing the 35's on the 4Runner... I also vote "NAY" on the limb risers. :bigok: on the Burtman Euro Spoiler... it's been on my splurge list for a long time.

RE the squeak, check the latches on your rear seat backs (on the C-Pillars). Sometimes they don't latch all the way, or the latches wear out a little and they sqeak. The one's on my '97 squeak on really rough roads. Also, the latch for the rear hatch is adjustable (see the two big screws that attach the "U" bolt to the bracket coming off the body), so maybe your is out of adjustment just a tad. That's all I've got.
