Hutchinson/Rock Monster wheels?

Pretty much as the title states. Has anyone in here recked 'em? I know there are a couple of 4th gen guys doing it, but I think they'd look incredible on a 5th. Plus the functionality of the beadlock would be amazing on the trails.

Hi McFly2003... think long and hard about law enforcement stops if you plan on running them as a daily driving rim/tire, because there is quite a grey area about the legality of beadlocks on public roads.

Oh absolutely. I got some unwanted attention back east when I was running external beadlocks on my old '85 pickup. The great think about the Hutchinsons is that the beadlock is internal and much harder to unseat. You can also tell people that its just the design of the wheel since there's no external beadlock ring

Hutchinsons are H E A V Y. Those things and a General Grabber AT2 will give you a dang good reason to lust for a supercharger. For really high end wheels check out Raceline, super strong and pretty decent looking i think. Beadlocks are overkill for most folks. I run 14psi off road in my '85 4Runner trail truck with no problems (35's MTR Kevs, soon to be 37's).

i havent used, or heard of anyone using them. interesting design.

and, for where/how i wheel, beadlocks are an absolute must.
this last weekend i went wheeling, and aired down to 1.5, since the snow was so crappy. cant do that without locks.

Strictly opinion to be taken with a grain of salt, if that but...If you are looking at situations where you really need to air down (be it rocks or snow) your wheels are likely to take a beating to a certain extent.
If you are looking at dropping the kind of coin that high end running gear commands why not get a set of "beaters". Just a simple steel beadlocks with some REAL off road tires (Trepadors, MTR Kev's, siped/cut KM2's, etc) for screwing off and stick with a reliable, good wearing AT for the street.
I <3 my MTR's but they arent a 35,000 mile tire, I like expensive wheels but dont want to see them get super rashed from what I know I'd put them through. If I can address both of those problems in one swoop that's the route I'd take.

ive been shopping lately...
even "cheap" steal beadlocks...arent really cheap. the quote i got for 4, 17" beadlocks was $1050.
also, swapping tires back and forth will get old fast. most think they'll do it that way, and plan to. i expect it doesnt last long, and eventually they'll just end up leaving the wheeling tires mounted.

street legal, sweet, heavy. if you need beadlocks and your worried about DOT, these and the Centerline ICE wheels are your option
