HVAC indicator light out

On my '04 LTD, the pass. temp adjust back illumination is out. I also notice that from time to time, the clock side of the display, the orange illumination sometimes gets "jiggily". I have the 6 yr/100 K platinum warranty but the dealer said that the tech rep has to come out and make a ruling (IAW the Toyo warranty guys, watched the service guy on the phone with them). It is an LED light and the unit would have to be replaced for $1000. The rep will maake a decision whether or not to replace the controller. The light is out, what is the question??? The warranty is still applicable??
Any input would be appreciated.

Display in-op at times

I wonder how common of a problem this is? Today while backing out of the garage to go to work my display area with the clock in it started to flicker at the right half only and then went out. I parked it and 9hrs later went to drive it home from work and it was fine? Can these be repaired or is it a throw away part? The functions all seem to work fine but the backlit light was acting up.

Those are just light bulbs behind there. Do a search and you will see. They are easy to change.

Mine did that quite a lot when I first got it. I haven't notice it doing it now.

Thanks for the response. It sounds like cleaning the contacts and or replacing the bulbs should take care of it as long as the display functions are working, which they are so far.
