Hydro-locked help

I was just as surprised because I know for sure I have gone through water 1.5ft deep and this was no where near that but I guess it was just a bad day for me

So, your avitar pic, was that the puddle? Do you have a CAI or modded the OEM intake in any way? It must have been a really deep and long "puddle" for this to happen. This area was flooding this past summer and my runner went through some really deep water but still no signs of it in the air filter housing.

The puddle was not too long probably 25 ft long but the intake is all stock just my luck I guess

So you are saying dont do this?
I think everyone should post their puddle pictures.
I should have taken a pic of the 1" puddle in the parking lot left over from yesterday that I drove through during lunch! Should have checked if you all thought it was safe for the 4Runner to traverse!
Here's mine but I don't race through water...

hahahaha, great thread hijack - can't resist:
No winching needed, just needed to push the ice along and out of the way. It's one of the few trails that wasn't washed out in the Estes Park, CO area flooding a month ago.
Looks like you had a good bow wave, the key to deep crossings!

Did this with an open air/cold air intake.

sometimes just a funny splash can do it.
ive towed more than one rig out of the mtns for sucking water into the intake.
my buddy had a lifted f250/460 on 35's, he dropped into a mudhole, not too fast. the truck just died. it wouldn't restart, so we tried pulling it, but the rear tires just slid, the engine wouldn't turn over.
he took it into the dealer and explained the problem.
a few days later they called and told him he needed a new engine, there was a hole in the block.
funny thing is, there was NO hole in it when we dropped it off.
we think they sprayed some starting fluid into the TB and got it started...but the cylinder(s) were still full of water. they didn't clear them out.
when it started, SLAM, out the rod goes.
they wouldn't admit it tho, and it cost him about $4k to have the engine replaced.
