what makes you think you hydrolocked it? im having a very hard time beliveing this, as i have several times hit large puddles ie flooded intersections and streets with at least a foot of water that have been 50'+ long and hit them with speed and never had any issues. also done several creek and stream crossings with water up to the head lights -yes before i put my snorkel on
your air box would almost have to fill up completely with water, meaning it would have to be submerged... i dont see how a puddle would do this, even if you had a CAI... i dont think you could suck that much water in from the splash of a puddle

ya, I've bombed through some deep water at pretty high speeds and never had an issue. I've also been in so much muddy water that I filled one of my brand new projector conversion headlight assemblies with gunk. Either you're the unluckiest person alive or theres something else going on.

I think im just terribly unlucky, the puddle was small, walked through it afterwords and only came 1/2 way up my shins. pulled all the plugs and spun motor, made a loud clunk and nothing more. I had it towed to the house and will try to pull the heads this weekend and look for valve damage. May part out, may sell to salvage yard, buddy of mine is a buyer for LKQ and offered 2k as it sits so we shall see. My wife is more PO'd than I am. I just went in to pull a buddy's s10 out (he got stuck) pulled him out just fine then this happened. 
Oh, and the truck is BONE stock. even had OE plugs still in it, air filter was soaked and weight about 10lbs seemingly.

That really does suck, I had a buddy with his AEM intake take water over his hood, sucked in all kinds, said he let is sit a long time because it stalled out then drove it home like that about 30 miles. He then drained all the oil, changed plugs and it has been running ever since. It started getting some bad noises from water pump and timing area, we did a timing belt, water pump replacement and its still good. I was so surprised this thing was still running after he sucked in LOTS of water.
I have ran through big mud holes and water puddles with my open cone filter and never had a issue yet. It was raining really bad the other night and the water was up too my body, which was pretty high since I have 33's and 5"'s of lift. I was treading through and never sucked any water, filter was dry.
Maybe there is a missing plastic piece in the wheel well that was shedding water too the intake hole. I would really look into that because this would happen in my AWD Talon.

just so you know, you can buy the 3.4l motors fairly cheap, like $8-1500 and just do a swippy-swap
