Hypothetical question that pertains in giving up my 4Runner

This is a possible/hypothetical question. Once I complete certain things in my life, I will be giving serious thought to opening my own business. Without going into too much detail about the nature of the business I am going to say this, I can see many opportunities where having a pick-up truck would be a handy asset to have. However, my wife even said that she agrees, but it would be most logical, and affordable if I did this for me to give up my 4 Runner. So with that said I would only give it up for a Tundra with an extra cab. However, guys I love my 4 Runner, and to think of giving it up before 10 years (the amount of years I set my goal to owning this truck if not more) just bothers me. Keep in mind I own this truck: pink slip and all. What would you do?

Yes, and you know what I own one. But here are the flaws to those things. While being cheaper and all: they are a bitch to manuver. Take a truck for instance with nothing attach to it: you can park on any normal parking spot; with a trailer you cannot. Second, the weight compacity with that thing just sucks: it really just sucks. Whenever I get wood for the fireplace, or top-soil plus mulch, I am really limited. But like I said it's saving me a lot when it comes to finances. But for a business such as the one I am planning, and could possible consist of deliveries it's not logical. However, if I do plan to do deliveries, I am most certain I will purchase a van for the business only.

Why don't you just find a cheap used pickup?

LOL...we did have one once. We bought an OLD Toyota pickup for $350. I had to jump start it everytime I needed it. Man that thing was a pain: sold it to some guy for $300 with new calipers in it.

First, what is your budget for the pickup? You know that the pickup is going to get beat up, so I don't think there is any sense in buying a brand new one. I was looking at the Auto Shopper for the fun of it and saw a couple of 2001 Tundra SR5 extended for $9,500. But then you will have to pay insurance on two vehicles and that is not cheap. 4Runner's and Tundra's are not cheap to insure so you may have no choice. Would a Tacoma suit your needs??

And, if you incorporate and the corporation buys a pickup, it will probably be tax deductible to the corporation. May be worth running the numbers on.

If you have to give up your vehicle to start a business, your new business is undercapitalized.

If funds are that tight, you'd best review your business plan and capitalization plan again...
