Wow the Toyota lug studs really are really crappy.
I was re-torquing the lug nuts with a torque wrench. One stud broke off on the front wheel. I didn’t even reach 83ft-lbs yet.
After breaking the 1st stud, there was another stud with the lug nut turning more than usual. I stopped before the torque wrench clicked because it felt like it was going to break like the 1st one. I think I should replace this stud too.
Luckily it’s on the front wheel which makes it easier to replace. Should I try to get Toyota to replace under warranty or will they charge me because I broke it myself? If they want to charge me then I will replace it myself because it seems pretty straight forward after removing the caliper and rotor.
