Or if want something newer is350 very good looks, handling and decent power.

the quattro is not flawless at all in the ice and snow, it is nice in the snow but you can still get out of control. Ive learned this from exprience. However on the other side the IS is horrible in the snow. ive seen more of those cars stuck than any other car when it snows. I think the runner has more capabilites such as towing and you have good ground clearence. The audi wont plow through the deep stuff as much as the runner but as you said when that high milage comes i totally agree with you on wanting something else. I know I said this before but buying a used audi is a money pit too. unless you can pay it off real quick you will most likely owe more than its worth a few years down the road. So yeah just a friendly heads up!

6 years is pretty long time on the same car. I wanted something new, something fresh, something that can get more than 20 mpg.

I filled up Thursday morning and I'm already below the half tank mark. Seriously, it drinks gas like water.

With the quattro, At least I can get more than 25 mpg and have the awd.

Where as the runner, I have to change it from 2wd to 4wd and with that... my mpg will go down even more.

I had it with it, I'm hitting 200k within the next couple days. Sadly, I don't have any toys in my driveway that requires towing or ground clearance.

I rather have an a4 that I can take corners, go a little quick and get 30+ mpg than the runner.

I had like 3 arguments with my parents over this.

All they say is ' bad time to buy' than when is the right time to buy the bloody car?

Speaking of, Gas is going back up again.

With the quattro, I can do 2 gallons of driving in the 4runner to 1 gallon.

I could save gas instead of burning more...

I wouldn't mind pumping premium in it.


The dealer ship had call 6 times in the last 24 hours to see if I can come in and take a drive.

I'm tempted to go and sign the papers tomorrow and be done with this.

I have to wait 3 years until I'm finish with college, then I can get my new car.

Look like I have to drive my runner for the next couple of years....

The hunt is over for now or until the economy picks back up any time soon, I will have to keep the runner and drive it.

I'm 6'1 and I need more leg room. I have the seat all the way back and I still need more.

Don't get me wrong, is a great car and such but I want something with more power and more leg room.

The Is300 is reliable, has the power I wanted(but I probably do some more upgrades) and more leg room.

If not, I though about an Acura Tl or tsx but the front engine, front wheel drive me turns me off.

I don't know, the runner is all cool and all but I don't know,

I wouldn't mind an new Is350 but with the options I wanted is close to $45k... and with the economy the way it is...

I know you said youve had it with your 4R, but did you check out a 4th gen with XREAS & v8? The new 4R has more interior room. I can take our local hairpin turn here at like 60+ (havent gone faster but think I could) mph without body sway, roll, or slowing down. Of course I am grabbing my OH S H I T! bar the whole time, but I feel the XREAS is the best "sport" suspension in any SUV, IMHO. Also i widened my tires a little bit to gain more surface friction and it helped with overall cornering. With the 4.7 v8, there is a lot of torque to be used at your foots descretion. However, no you cant E-brake in our 4R, or weave in and out of traffic.

My second car (paid off) is my Altima v6 (3.5). It has about 73k miles right now and she still can boogie. I noticed you were eyeing out more of a luxory car, but for $20k you cant go wrong with a v6 altima. They claim a 6'4" passenger can sit comfortably behind a 6'4" driver. Plenty of room.

You asked how we paid for our second car and I would answer you....patience. I bought both of my cars used, at the end of the year (Oct & Nov), at the end of the month & at the end of the day. This forces the salesman to make his quota and hopefully be more generous with the price markdown.

Audi's do look nice...but I have also heard they are expensive to maintain. Lexus are also nice...especially the new ones. However, I really dont know how they perform. Between the two, I would choose a Lexus because it really is an expensive Toyota. Good luck. Pray about it. Keep us posted.

I test drove the 4th ten 4runner yesterday and it was an v6 with xeras suspension. It was nice, the ride was comfortable. Overall it was a great experience. One thing I like though, it was about $3k cheaper than the Lexus.


I drove an altima before with the 3.5 and it does have the power however though, I don't like the front wheel drive.


The audi's were within the price range, is about $20k-$25k for an used 06-07 a4.

I don't know, like I said if I were you I would keep the truck and just get a "toy" for going fast when you feel like it. Get a camaro z-28 on c-list and slap $1,000 worth of bolt ons and have a 11 or 12 second car and just be done with it. It looks like you're looking for a car that will do everything:

speed
good mpg
all wheel drive
etc.

Sorry,most of those cheap Z28s have a lot of miles on them and won't run what they ran new in stock trim plus the engine will most likely be a bit tired and probably need a rebuild shortly after you buy it since most Z28S will have been ridden hard for those miles.

you know dude, you have to have just made the most sense on this entire forum just now.

American cars do blow indeed. I have 3 friends with camaros, I cannot even count how many times I've gotten calls late at night, "Can you come help me? Can you pick me up? My wheel fell off, can you come and put it back on?" That last one actually happened twice, different camaros.

A rear wheel drive small sedan with good MPG is really, really nice to have aside. Be it that I haven't driven my Mercedes in 2 weeks (it's at the tint shop, I told them they could keep it as long as they want since they gave me a good price), it's great to have those days where I just want to weave in traffic because I'm sick of waiting, or when I want to just have some safe fun. I wouldn't dare do the shit I used to do in my old car with the new Mercedes... but it's still nice

I've driven many an IS, old ones, new ones, and even the F, they're cool cars. They sure were smart making them RWD instead of FWD like it's Corolla counterpart.

It sucks you have to wait, but you'll be a happy guy when you get it. I have the shittiest available 4Runenr there is, no 4WD, no locker, and a 4 cylinder, but I would never get rid of it.

It keeps me happy to have a car to run over shit with, a car to go be a little more careless with, a car to haul my friends and dirty shit with, and a car to put miles on.

I haven't even put 6k on my Mercedes, I've had it for almost 2 years. I've put 15k on my Toyota. Cheaper maintenance, and it keeps driving a nice, low car, more enjoyable.

Good luck man, glad you're not wasting your life with a plastic car like an SRT or a horribly built car like a Camaro (Cant America Make A Real One?)

I drove an american build car and it was horrible. The interior of the car is cheap, all plastic.

I don't get why they can't put more effort into it to make it better and more reliable.

I wish the tl or maybe the tsx were rwd instead of fwd. They both are great cars, reliable, great mpg and luxury.

The c230 is a great car but I want something a little bit more power.

I like to take corners and weave around the traffic when I can too. Sometimes a little more speed too.

With the runner, is hard to do that. However though, I can take my boys out, go out to the mountain without any problems. The runner I can be a little rough and I don't have to worry about it.



I would like to have a second car to take a girl out to dinner or date. Something that is luxury, sophiscated and sporty. Instead of her driving her car.

The runner is cool though, is an sr5 with 4wd and leather. However though, I wish it had an moon roof since is sunny here in norcal 8 months of the year and I like having it at night to look at stars with my girlfriend.

The runner has over 200k miles on it. But when I do get my new car, is going to be an Is350 with the runner next to it.

To be perfectly honest, it costs more to drive a sports sedan and stuff.

I know the mileage is nearly twice than my 4Runner, but the C230 runs on Premium gas, and servicing is not something I can do for next to nothing at home.

If I do anything to my 4Runner that needs to be fixed, I can do it at home and it's going to be cheap for parts, ie when I broke my radiator off-road.

I replaced the radiator at home for only 150 bucks.

The Mercedes cooling system would be an absolute nightmare, considering it's impossible to disassemble and it's supercharged...

So it's become more of a luxury to really have it. The C230 is a car i like to rarely drive because it keeps the experience fresh and I really only use it when I want to. If I go to school or work, I mostly drive the 4Runner.

If I wanna go on a date with a girl or somewhere nice, I'll take the car. No one sits in my backseat of my benz, no one.

Being that also, stupid things like spills I'd much rather keep in my 4Runner.

So basically cost and the want to keep the car mint is keeping me from driving it too much, I maybe drive it 5-10 times a month...

Oh, and no lending... made that mistake and my dad ran it into one of those curbs in a parking space and jacked my front bumper up, curbed a wheel, and then another time he drove it, miraculous rear bumper damage occurred... he's promised me he will fix it once he returns from Palestine.

My 4Runner doesn't have the problem of hitting little curbs or anything, and if I did mess up my bumper, big shit, I'll buy a new valance for 100 bucks. My mercedes is going to cost 500 for the front bumper alone... then another 200 for the back bumper.. and another 300 for a new wheel.

no problems... had a vacuum leak occur but it was a recalled part so i had it fixed free...
thats really all.
