I Found 265/70/17 LT....LT!!! REVOS!!!

Yes P series have softer side walls and 4 ply construction. LT series have stiffer sidewalls and 6-10 ply construction.

If you off road frequently LT would be worth the money. P series will still perform offroad but not as "hardcore" as a LT tire. for example, you wouldnt rock crawl with P rated tires, you could but it will chew up the sidewalls and you would have a higher possiblity of a sidewall puncture. An experienced off roader could off road with both.... If you never off road or only offroad on occation, get P series.

The only reason I am getting LT's is because when I move next summer, I will be doing a lot more off roading.

I'm not doing a lot of off-roading, but I thought that stiffer tires will be more stable in cornering. I know that 4Runner is not a race car, but in a highway cornering stability is very important. What do you think about it? Do LTs give me stability?

Hey guys, don't forget that Goodyear also has an excellent all-terrain tire that just came out: Wrangler SilentArmor. This is the next all-terrain tire for me when my BFG AT wears out. And it does come in LT265/70R17 size:

Interesting that the P rated tire has a higher load rating at 35psi then the LT has at 50psi in the 265/70/17 size. What do you think causes that? Also I have always liked Michelin tires from a quality standpoint. But I have to say that I got 70K miles of use out of a set of BFG AT/KO's on my 1995 Landcruiser before I sold it and the KO's still had over 50% thread left. I would have to see reports on these new Goodyears that showed they were "GREAT" tires before I would turn my back on the BFG AT/KO's for an AT tire.

From all the reviews that i have read (recently, FourWheeler did a review), they are as good as the advertisement claims. IMO, the tread looks less aggressive than BFG AT KO (my favorite for now).

One of the things that tips the scale in favor of Goodyear (for me) is that BFG & Michelin is a French company. And yes, i know, i have a German car...oh well, they are not as bad as the French.:

We're still pretty limited.

Veyr few tire makers have LT 265/70/17, and those that do have then in E load 10 ply. Toyo Open Country A/T, Revos, for example.

BFG A/TKO is one of the very few that carry that size in Load C. Bad-year Silent Armour is another.

So....if we're goint to use Revo or Toyo and they only come in LT 10 ply, the question is whether a 10 ply E load can be safetly used in a 4Runner and whetehr the added weight of about 8 more pounds per tire will damage the suspension. Will the ride be so stiff as to be unbearable.

Given Bad-year's inconsistent record of tires---just go to tirerack for their reports, I'd let someone else drop $800 to see if their SIlent Armour is worth it. ame as Firestone Destination AT, initial reports are good, but I'd hold off spending my hard earned cash and stick with proven tires.

I presume that you are saying that the LT rated Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo have a deeper tread than the corresponding P rated tire. I see that in the Bridgestone chart - 16 mm tread depth for the LT265/75-16 vs 13 mm for the P265/75-16. But, a more aggressive tread pattern? I am surprised that there is any difference in tread pattern - how did you determine this?

The LT tread pattern has more distance between the treads in the middle of the tire, but the pattern itself looks the same.
