Just put 20's on my sr5. Started with tires size 265/50/20 but didn't like the way it looked. So i changed them to nitto terra 275/60/20. Now it seems I have slight rubbing going on. Any thoughts on what to do.

What size front spacer's do you think I would need. Not sure on how to do this also. Where is the best place to take it to get it done.

Thanks

First thing you need to do, is figure out where it's rubbing.
Rubbing at the fender inner liners or the Upper Control Arms on the inside? What are the specs of the rims you put on?

You went from a 30.5 inch tire to a 33 inch tire. The tires you put on are 33's so you probably have more then slight rubbing when turning the wheels ,considering you don't have a lift.

You should be able to see the rub marks on the front inner fender well liner if it's rubbing there.Probably right on that one plastic rib in the front that sticks out. If it's rubbing there ,you'll need to either slot the bottom 2 attach holes in the liner only or drill new holes back farther, push the liner forward and retighten the fasteners in the newly relocated holes. No need to cut inner fender liners, just relocate them.

You'll only need to put spacers on if the backspacing on the rims is too much and your rubbing on the UCA's.
Spacers make the rubbing worse if it's rubbing on the inner liners. Been there done that.

Wheels are 20x9

how will I know if rubbing I'd occuring on the uca's.

Ican just tell when I turn wheel all the way I see the front of the tires hit front of wheel well.

Wheels are 20x9 What backspacing or offset?

how will I know if rubbing I'd occuring on the uca's. Only way to do it is cut the wheels the whole way and get up under there and look, cut them the other way and look at your clearances. Also there will be tell tale rub marks on the inside of your tire if they rubbing.

Ican just tell when I turn wheel all the way I see the front of the tires hit front of wheel well. That's the wheel well inner liner that needs pulled foward by elongating or new holes drilled in the liner. Not sure if you can even pull them far enough forward running 33's without a lift

Good Luck. Who suggested going with this big a tire(33) without a lift anyway?

Spacers can be dangerous. I personally would get wheels with the proper offset.
Not sure if spacers are dangerous as alot of guys have been running them for years but yes it's so much easier/better to get the right wheels with the proper offset to begin with.

What offset should I have. I'm lost
Stock offset is 4.5 inches
You have 5.71 backspacing and that's for a Chevy/GMC/Cadillac so you are probably rubbing on the UCA's and the inner fenderwells. You really need to go to someplace else to get your wheels/tires as they are clueless about fitment and just want to make the sell.

So my problem then is the wheel also.
Can I make another size tire work with this wheel or
lose out on all the money and change everything

When I saw the title of this thread I though he got garbage?

That is what he has......
As far as fitment goes!!

You know wheels fits better then me as you were my mentor. What do you think he should do?
There is no better fitment then a 8 inch wide rim with 4.5 backspace. That's a fact!

IMHO you are both right. True spacers are just that, spacers. They slide onto the lugs like a big, circular specialized washer. When the rim is off they flop around and are loose. This type of design can stress lugnuts, cause lugs to loosen and prevent adequate penetration of the lug into the nut. They can be dangerous and are outlawed in many states.

The "spacers" most use on T4R are, IMHO, incorrectly called spacers. They are more like true wheel adapters than spacers. (They don't adapt the lug pattern in the case of the T4R though.) The Spidertrax even have the ridge to retain the hubcentric properties 4Runners rely on for proper rim alignment. The Sidertrax bolt solidly onto the hub and then the rim bolts onto the adapter.

:iagree: w/ Harper7. Before you can decide if you have offset issues you need to figure out if it rubs the UCA. If it doesn't rub the UCA wheel spacers or a different offset will probably exacerbate your plastic rubbing.

Ahh , I'm 7harper now. Still can't log into my harper7 account:fishing:
Thinkin' the gators done ate gatorgreg!!lol

A real pain for me when I had spacers/adapters on is my local Discount Tire said they were some kind of liabilty and would'nt put wheels on them. So when I went to recheck balance I had to take them off first and then put them back on at home.

Guys

Thanks for all your help but I'm lost as to
what I should do. Should I use these wheels or not.

I did not notice any problem when running 265/50/20.
So is it a tire problem or both. Is there something that can be done to make current setup work
