I installed seater heaters in cloth seats

Ok after after around I never found anyone who had installed seat heaters in cloth seats for 3rd gen 4runner and people asked if I did it to post some pics.

I had installed them in out 2012 tacoma and found it super easy, with lot of information online about it. So here is some info our our seats.

I found it super easy and after doing it I found it almost easier than the tacoma. All I had was pliers and snips to cut or twist off the metal hog clips. Most of the Hog clips are on the button and I only needed to cut 2 on the seat butt.

under the seat you will see 8 rings total. 3 on each side and 2 on top.

You have to remove the plastic side pieces to access 4 bolts that allows you to remove the butt part. This is done by a few phillips screws and the manual lumber knob has a clip in the handle. I pushed the plastic hard to see the clip and pushed it off with a screw driver.

Once the side plastic and the 4 bolts are gone the butt cushion comes right out. I placed it on my work bench to better remove the 2 harder to reach hog rings.

I cut the pad to size and stuck it down on the seat.

I didn't take pictures of the lower back but it was super easy and straight forward. If you look and the bottom of the back section you can see a long plastic snap. I just pushed a little flat head screw driver and payed it open. Once its unclipped you can roll up the cloth and side the heat pad in the back section and re snap together again.

The cheap pads I bought gave me some issues and I had to redo them a few times so I got good at taking the seats apart after this.

They seem to work good just much slower than the tacoma ones I installed. Let me know if you have any questions.

what did you end up doing for a wiring solution?

Since I didn't have enough pads for both seats I could not decide how to mount my switches so its just under my seat for now so I can reach it.

For the power I have a 1000w inverter under my seat and I just pulled the power from the bolts on the back of the inverter. It only pulls about 3amps.

I can't recommend the ones I got since I had my issues but amazon and ebay have a ton. If the pads have the same design and color tape as in these links im sure it will be the same ones.

These are the ones I installed in the tacoma with the 5 setting switch. I believe you could install these switches to the left of the steering wheel with the stock look. These are the ones Toyota uses now.
