I know this has been beaten..but HID/Fog questions.

I've read a whole lot, but I still really don't understand these HIDs exactly. I already got interior leds (thanks to J.A) but now that I want some HIDs its different. I just want to change my highs,lows, and fogs with a bright white HID that is plug and play. Can some just shoot me in the direction of a nice set that I can get and install pretty easily. It's much appreciated guys!

I ordered the 6500k Xenon HID kit and 3000k Xenon HID for my fogs from xenondepot.

The purest light will be attained with the 4300k. The white glow that you may be looking for is probably the 5000k. I chose the 6500k because I wanted bit of the bluish glow to the lights. Plus with the 3000k fogs, its quite bright (sorry didnt have any night pics at the moment, but on the attached link, under testimonials, there are numerous examples available of the different temperatures at night).

The second page is to determine the different bulbs. Different cars as well as different year 4runners (03 to 05 vs 06+) have different options to pic.

all hid kits are simular, the company gets it from a source in china, some are better than the other, if u want plug and play, get those from ebay, but stay away from xentec brand, now if u want to do a retro which i recommend, go to theretrofitsource.com and get the products from them, u will be much beter off with a retrofit than the plug and play shiet. i was one of those that ran plug and play, it was bad with the glare on the 06+ model still not as bad as reflectors, but did a retrofit and was amzed on how much better the light was, then upgraded to some better projectors and that blew the cheaper projectors out the water.

Hard to beat DDM for the price. That's what I'm running, no complaints, they get the job done. You will want to do HID lows and fogs, but NOT high beams. HID's aren't meant to be turned on/off quickly, and doing so could cause premature failure. Since you turn your high beams on/off frequently, it's a better idea not to use them. For highs, you can consider running HIR's. They'll be an upgrade in output, will work better in the halogen headlamp, and be much more reliable due to the on/off issue you have with HIDs. This site sells the HIRs. You will have to slightly modify the base of the bulb for them to fit, but it's really easy.

Use this site to determine bulb size if needed.

Not sure how you guys got the HIDs to work in your fogs. I got some and they were too long. They screwed in but the insulator was catching on that part in the middle of the fog deflects the light.

I have the ddmtuning low beams, 5000k is the color.

For my fogs I have the ddmtuning 3000k temp. I'm very happy with both. Been running them for 2 years without any problems.

I have the lows and fogs in 6000k. They are the DDM Raptor kit. Been about 4 years, no issue to date. Actually, this is a bit frustrating becuase I have a $300 McCullough kit in my Titan, and I cant tell the difference.

Do the DDMs have a ballast? I want to get 5K 35watt fogs without a ballast if possible, and 5K 55watt lows without a ballast as well. I just dont know what brands are best for the money but now I'm leaning towards DDM if I can get my last couple questions answered.

All HID kits will require a ballast. They do make some imitation HID bulbs that offer the color temp of HID's, but not the increased output. Why are you concerned about the ballasts? The HID kits are fully plug and play. After determining where/how to mount the ballast, the install can be completed in 15 minutes or less per set.

Can someone post up some pics of where they have mounted their ballasts? Can someone post a link with the DDM 5K lows/fogs. I have to buy some interior LEDs from V-HID but they dont have lows in stock.

What are you wanting to see in the pics? I had my DDM 5000K's in the low beams, just swapped them to the fogs to get an idea of the output.

Just pictures of ballast placement. What's the common website to purchase DDMs at. I'm gonna get 5Ks 55w for the lows, and 5Ks 35w for the fogs.
