I took my 4R to get serviced today and had several people (techs/manager/salespeople/etc) walking around it asking where I got this and that from, while taking pictures with their cell phones.... Feels good to have SINnamon appreciated!

PS - Thanks Ducmonsta for the lights and putting up with all of my questions. You were super helpful and I am forever grateful!!

I think it's the fact that the vehicle is sitting in a nice residential neighborhood and ultra clean. I think if you try to visualize a different setting then the cow catcher is more palatable. It's all about context. I had one on my 2nd gen but that was in the early 90's. I dropped that accessory on my 2001 3rd gen.
 
haha not trying to start an argument. I know the thing isn't going to protect my vehicle from significant damage. however i like having it out there driving around my parent's farm through tall weed/grass.

annnnnd I like how it looks annnnnnnd it was a gift.

anyway, thanks for the compliments mis compadres!

Sinnamon appreciates them as well.
 
Looks good thats the exact roof rack set up I want, just keep in mind that if you lift it, you will loose x-raes (spelling?) so you want to make sure you get a good suspention like icon, fox or something like that. They cost too.

Oh man now you have it spot on for context !! I love it !! Brings back memories of deer camp and driving my 90 T4R with friends through neck high fields of golden rod, kicking up mud and having to use the windshield wipers !! no kidding.

I know man!!

The only reason I haven't Is because there aren't any shops in the local area that would lift it for me. Actually there is one, but from some reviews of the place I'm kinda wary to let them touch my Baby. Talked to them about installing my lights and they kinda jerked me around a bit... And that's just lights. These are all things I wish I could do myself but I lack the proper Man Cave and accessories to do it. :-/

Side note. I've read the threads about lifting and the different types of lifts. How was the ride after lifting but keeping the Xreas? Vs lifting and losing the Xreas? I spend the majority of my driving on road. I'd say probably 33.66 (repeating of course) % is very light offload (fields/dirt roads/etc)
 
The ride quality for me remained mostly unchanged, but the E rated LT tires did make for a bit more harshness. It still rides fine for me though.

On your cow catcher erm... grill guard, can the headlight guards be removed??
I like that style guard but not fond of the headlight guards.

in all honesty, if your driving is going to be 90% on road and 10% off road on FSRs probably dont need a lift. maybe a level.

i'd go with C rated tires as E will make the ride a fair bit harsher than what your ass is currently used to on the stock tires. i'm looking at the kumho road venture sat kl61 or the hankook dynapro ATMs as they seem to fit the bill i'm looking for. the duratracs are popular as well.

if you're talking about the grills that go across the headlights yeah they can be removed. they're held in with 3 screws/bolts on each side and as such i assume they are removable.

i've been contemplating taking them off to see what the truck will look like with them off but havent taken the time to do it yet. who knows, maybe one of the upcoming weekends when i have some time off i'll give'er :boink:
