I need some trans help!!

Well I knew when I bought my truck that a new transmission was put in it a few thousand miles ago. However, I didn't know it was the wrong trans. My 86 22re auto came with the A340F trans from the factory. However now it has the A340H trans. I found the 30-80LE tag on the side of the trans. My problem is now the reverse lights aren't getting any power and the oil temp light stays on. So far all I've found is 2 wires coming out of the trans near the front right, right beside a cooler line. I'm assuming this is my temp light problem, as it is just 2 wires dangling, connected to nothing. What I'm hoping to get from you guys is input on how I can get this thing wired up right for my rig. Thanks in advance.

They should be interchangeable? When the trans went out in my '86 (A340F), I didn't know any better while shopping for a new one and put an A340H in. I didn't know I'd done it until I parted it out and the guy that bought the trans noticed the difference.

I don't have one to look at anymore so I'm no help on the "What wires go where" front, but I assure you it can be made to work. There's not a huge number of wires coming off that thing.

No it doesn't look too confusing but I tried to locate the oil temp wires coming from the chassis but I can't for the life of me find any that aren't plugged in. Also isn't the backup switch for the autos in the neutral safety switch. Because that definitely doesn't work either. My truck can be started in any gear you want. Kinda sketchy.

The harness should be connected to the engine harness and yes reverse lights should be the safety switch
