I need to vent! ready to junk this truck!

I've got 2 inches front to back rake. Exactly where I wanted it. When I had 1 inch of rake it looked level and I hated that look. Now the truck looks aggressive no matter how it's parked or how much I load it down. I'm keeping my front suspension where it's at because I like how it rides/drives now and I don't want to stress all the components up there more than I have to. These are my measurements after installing the 861s in the back.

DF 21 3/4" 36 5/8"
PF 21 3/4" 36 1/2"
DR 24" 38 5/8"
PR 24" 38 5/8"

These were my stock measurements.

DF 34 1/4" 19 1/8"
PF 34 3/8" 19 1/4"
DR 35 1/2" 20 1/2"
PR 35 3/4" 20 1/2"

I've got 2.5" of lift over my stock setup upfront. 3.5" in the back over stock. You can compare these numbers and see where you would sit approximately. I would think your rear would sit .5" higher or so since you're running less weight. Keep in mind this is without the rear cone bump stops inside the rear springs which will add 3/8-1/2 inch if you install them too.



The bumper and tire carrier weigh 130 lbs, but you are probably netting only like 70 lbs over stock once you consider the stock hitch and bumper you took off. The same thing applies to the spare tire.

I think on the front suspension you really shouldn't run anything over 23" or you're asking to become a CV shredding machine.

Nice info bud. Appreciate it much. I think I'll go ahead and get these and simply try them out my self. Worst case I can sell them. Now are you yourself running the stock cones in the back ?

I'm little confused on your measurements. Your stock measurements seem. Bigger ? So you are 3" in front. Correct ?

I'm not running the cones right now, I may add them though as I have a rattle/vibration that might be coming up through the springs since I have no cushion between them and the body. I haven't isolated it yet though.

Do these coils handle weight? Since they are stock style coils they may still sag under weight.

They handle major weight. [MENTION=124101]Chim[/MENTION] also runs them, and also replaced his Superflex for these 861- due to the Superflex not supporting the weight he carries when loaded.
[MENTION=99565]kolelt[/MENTION] you said the BOSS shocks "weren't much different than the Bilsteins"- and that is correct. They are the same specs as the extended travel Bilsteins, which are also too long if you're wanting to stuff tire like I do.

Someone said the 861's will give you more "down travel". Maybe it was a typo, but the springs don't affect down travel- aka "droop". If your ride height is higher, you'll have "more" up travel from ride height, but your actual up travel won't change either.

I didn't realize 2861 was same as 861. I know how the 861 work.

I've seen stiff or shorter coils lift a tire causing less flex maybe that's what they meant.

Yes, all the OME coils officially have a 2 at the beginning of the part number. It just gets dropped when referring to the coils. 2890, 2891, 2906, etc.

Yes, they are the same. Pretty much every OME spring is 2xxx while a few are 3xxx. Everyone just refers to them by the last 3 numbers.

You could have just cut the cones off the rubber and reused those. Thats what most do when they need to add coil air bags.

I love my truck. And I don't think I'd have it any other way besides the big known companies actually testing their products with more then one sceneraio and acknowledging issues.

I have 861's and am very happy with them. I started with 890's, then 891's, but the 861's gave me the amount of lift I want. I have a rear bumper with dual swing outs, and I have about 1" of rake.

Few questions. How much weight you think you running in the back ? You daily it ? And what is your front set at ? 3"?

LOL. Relax. I could give a rats ass what you do as long as you enjoy the vehicle. I'm just saying that modding a vehicle turns it into a chore of teething issues.

Wasn't upset in the slightest....just pointing out how it read. I'd wager I'm not the only one who could have taken it that way.

I agree....modding a vehicle can (but does not always) mean additional issues and it really all depends on the person's use for that vehicle as well as their personal taste. If you don't want to mod a vehicle...that's fine. If you need to because of where you want to take it, that's fine too. If you want to do it b/c you think it looks cool...more power to ya. My opinion is no better than anyone else's...and neither is yours.
