I pod adapter questions.

Has anyone tried this I pod adapter on their 4runner? I just order one from amazon. I hear it should work fine for the most part. Since my T4R is a 06 limited with the JBL syn. system with xm. I hear it may be a bit dicey because of the age and the JBL. I think I will be in the clear but I hear the text my not display on the radio which is no big deal. Just hoping there are some other people out there that have seen it work on their T4RL JBLXM equipped set up. I dont use my XM so I don't care about it being disabled...

Pretty sure that's what I have in mine and it works well. My only complaint is that the artist/title won't scroll across the display, so if I'm looking for an artist such as Jason Isbell, all I get is Jason, so I have to guess which Jason it is, it won't scroll. That kind of sucks, but other than that I like it.

I have a 08 with JBL and I also added the Sirius option with the iSimple and run both. Easy hookup and everything works, including text, but just limited as I said above.

i pod stuff

That's what I've heard so far the text doesn't work just right...
Do the steering wheel controls work for the most part?
I read something on the i-simple saying will not work with factory equipped xm radio... I may have mis-understood the instructions. They may have meant it will disable the factory equipped XM which is no big deal being that I have un-plugged it anyway. I un-plugged it so it the radio would stop looking for it when I scrolled through the radio sources with the steering wheel mode button. It worked, now the radio doesn't pull up the XM like it did before.
Thanks for the in-put!!! I orded it today from Amazon shipped to the door for $85.00 I hate ordering electronics that I know may not work because they are a PITA to return. Sounds Like I'm in the clear besides some livable issues.
BTW---- does it sound pretty good?

thanks again!!!

I'm not sure on the XM, I'm guessing here, but I think you would just need to purchase another little add-on in order for XM and iPod to work, that's what I did. Now they both run on the same channel, I hit the Sat button then I can scroll to Sirius, iPod or AUX I think. But, yeah, if you don't have or want the satellite, you'll just unhook it from the back of the head unit and replace it with your new iSimple plug.

The steering wheel controls work perfect, they just change the tracks, unless you are on a different menu.

Sound is perfect as well.

Sweet!!!

Now all I got do is wait for it to show up in the mail...

Where did you install the plug that goes into the apple products?

I am thinking in the console since you can't control the item from the ipod once it's plugged in...

Sorry for not responding, I lost track of this.

I actually put mine in the hidden compartment in the glove box.

Installed the ipod adapter

It works great. The volume doesn't go as loud as the aux but still plenty loud an clear....
I went ahead and installed the cord in the center console since the unit has a manual control mode too. The text doesn't display all the way and doesn't scroll but not a big deal. First time I took the radio head unit out kind of a PITA. I installed the aftermarket adapter box behind the climate control panel a bit of a tight fit but over all seems fine. Now I just use the steering wheel controls and no more looking down at the Ipod. The girl was crying about me not keeping my eyes on the road.
