I probably shouldn't have, but...

I probably shouldn't have hauled this, but I did. From below Atlanta all the way to Greenville, SC - almost 200 miles. Total GVWR of the trailer and sailboat was 3360. It was sketchy to say the least, especially with stock brakes (which are in very bad condition as is). I have a massive respect for the 3rd Gen 4Runners - well built machines they are! Just thought I would share!

Hi from Charleston . I think the towing capacity on these is 5000 pounds with a V6 so you should have been well under that !

Well done on getting it hauled back safely. These things definitely don't like when you start to get too much weight on them.

This is one of my heaviest loads, no brakes on the trailer. Thankfully I wasn't going as far as you. One of the reasons I'd love to put a turbo on my rig.

audiness Oh definitely well under that. The weight wasn't the issue, the brakes were. Oh and no lights on the trailer, a car tire on the left rim of the trailer instead of a trailer tire, and my balding tires on the Runner all made it a cluster. It had just rained so the boat still had a little water in it sloshing around, and stopping it all was no easy task... but yes you're right, the weight wasn't terrible.

My brakes the last time I changed the pads...

The tundra brake upgrade is probably the single best thing I've done to my truck since I've owned it

My recollection was that it's 5K lbs with trailer brakes. But I'm going by my feeble memory, so could be mistaken.
