I should have had sliders

Yep, get sliders *before* you damage your rocker panels.

I was going up a really steep and narrow hill climb. Off to my right was a drainage pipe and I had to turn right to get above and over it. On my first try, I slide to the right and hit my rocker panel on the pipe. See the damage in the picture.

Now, my passenger door scrapes the rocker panel when opening/closing at the point of the arrow in the picture. I have put a wooden block on the rocker panel and hammered it, but I need to push it down more. Hammering directly on the metal will probably work, but that will also dent it and crack the paint. Any suggestions or tips on how to pound the rocker panel down for more door clearance?

Once you get some sliders on it will cover it up anyways.

Hammer on it through a rag directly on the door sill, should be just enough to keep the paint from cracking.

Get a dead blow plastic hammer and do the rag thing.

I don't think a plastic hammer will do anything. That part of the door frame is really solid. I used a small 2x4 and a ~5lb hammer, and it did almost nothing. Maybe I gained a fraction of a millimeter. I think I will try the rag idea, but I will need many layers. To do anything, it really needs to be pounded hard.

Yea, 2 or 3 rags bundled up real nice and that 5 pound hammer should do the trick, the 2x4 just spreads out the impact too far.

Yep. A few hundred dollars worth of sliders can prevent thousands of dollars of body damage.

The rockers are tough, even breaking the paint won't always move them. When I was in the business sometimes even a softball sized dent required cutting the damaged section out and rewelding it because no nail gun would pull it back in to shape. And as you have found out, it pushes up in to the door opening.
