I've replaced my towing electrical harness 3 times because I constantly smash it on rocks. I need it for towing my camper but it just gets in the way offroading.
I went to Lowes with an idea in my head and got some hardware and built this.
It is on a hinge so when I need it I can pull it down and when I don't need it I can stuff it up there and zip tie it or something.
Total cost: $17 for hardware at Lowes + $30 for replacement harness.
I just got a "heavy duty gate hinge" at Lowes, I then used some 1/2" long bolts to connect the gate hinge to the harness mount and the holes lined up perfectly.
I then took off my stock electrical harness mount thing, one of the bolts didn't come and actually ripped off. The other one came out and I put that one through one of the holes in the gate hinge to attach it to my frame.
Eventually I would like to do something about the hinge that can keep it up, like a spring mechanism or something that I can release easily to let it hang down, but zip ties will do for now.
