I want my turn signals on all the time

The new 4runners seems to have the orange turn signals on without anything else on. Those look very nice.

How would I make my 98 turn signals turn on when I turn on the ignition... some fiddling with the electronics ? Maybe replace some of those chips in that box under the dash? Thanks

DRL...daytime running lamps.

The daytime running lamps on the new 4runner is an option. It must be some kind of relay because it only costs $40.

I bet you could cut the wires to the blinkers from the wiring harness and hook them up to a switched 12v source.

Just push your hazard lights button when you get in and your turn signals will be on all the time.......:satan:

Just get the 03/04 DRL flasher and wire it up. You'll need to do something about the DRL signal generated by the ECU in the 03/04s. Most likely this is just a simple hi or low signal. DRLs are ON whenever the headlights are OFF.

Depending on how things are wired in your 98, you may be able to do this cleanly or it may require complete butchery of your existing wiring harness(es).

an easy out...

all you have to do is turn on the parking lights, on my 95 celica i just leave the headlight switch in the parking light position and the orange parking lights stay on all the time and when i shut off the car so do they, im not exactely sure if ur runner auto-offs, but even if it doesnt just turn on the parking lights....

On the 03/04 4Runners, the parking lights are small amber bulbs located in the headlight assembly, not the brighter turn signals (located in the bumper) that are used for the OEM DRLs... therefore, the parking lights aren't effective as DRLs.

Worse still, driving with your parking lights on is ILLEGAL IN CALIFORNIA.

yes it is technically, but i have had my little celica for over three years now and i have always driven during the day with them on. the only time when cops would be concerned is if you are driving at night with them on...

California is crazy. That state has so many insane laws. I don't know how people keep up with the laws.

Why on Earth would people take the time to make driving with parking lights on a crime? There are so many other problems to deal with, parking lights seem like the least significant issue ever.

The law likely applies to when it's dark outside when headlights would normally be required. I doubt any officer with a brain would pull you over for having your parking lights on in the daytime hours. Besides.. they're called PARKING lights for a reason... (if you're moving, then obviously you're no longer parked) otherwise they'd be called.... something else.

It's ALWAYS illegal in California to operate a vehicle with the just the parking lights on.

CA VC24800. No vehicle shall be driven at any time with the parking lamps lighted except when the lamps are being used as turn signal lamps or when the headlamps are also lighted.

I agree, this state is absolutely in-sane. You can get a ticket for this yet a football star can get away with murder. Go figure!
