I was looking on some advise on selling my rig. More than kkb.com. or do a search....
Not sure how to market it to sell fast. Got any tricks?
Give me your best "how to sell a car info".

It's a 04 4x4 sr5 4.0 with only 40,000 on the clock (only live 8 miles from work and took 6 or so long 1500 mile trips. 10k a year is low right? 3in spacer lift and bigger tires - did not go mental on the mods like last rig. Never been in the mud and only in 4wd a few times. Sleeps in the garage every night and full hand wax every 3 months - she's a queen and never had any warrranty issues.

Not sure what to ask for it? I was thinking around 20-21? Does that sound too low too high (KBB says 20)? Has anybody had luck selling on e-bay or local paper or autotrader? Anyone got experience selling a car yourself?

Thanks!

Autotrader is generally your best bet. I usually go through a local newspaper sponsored classifieds (which is free). Post it on Craigslist, too. And a "For Sale" sign on your rig is not a bad idea either. And of course, forums like this.

No one can say one method is better than the other. You need visibility, which means to advertise it where ever you can.

Good list. Some additional things I've done to sell a truck:

1. Keep it clean -- you never know when a buyer might see it and you want to show that it's received TLC.

2. With the for sale sign in it, drive it carefully. It's really amazing to see vehicles with a for sale sign being driven recklessly -- do these folks really think that will help attract a buyer who will pay top dollar?

3. Do a professional-looking write-up on it, make copies, and keep them with you. If someone expresses interest, then you will have the information ready for them.

4. If a potential buyer comes to see it for a test drive, have a copy of the maintenance and repair records. That shows how well you took care of the truck. I keep a spreadsheet with date, mileage, work done, who did it, and cost. If you don't have a spreadsheet but have the records, then the spreadsheet is easy to build.

To find a good selling price I would use Autotrader.com and do a search for a truck like yours (does not have to be exactly the same) within a 200 mile area of your ZIP code.

Then go through the prices and start comparing. That should give you a good idea for an asking price.

I found that most people who are interested will not haggle all that much because if the price was way high for them they would not call in the first place.

Good luck.

Cant believe your selling.......what do you want to get ?

I agree with checking local auto trader prices. Although the lift will hinder getting top buck unless you find the right person.
