I just picked up a 2002 T4R for a daily driver and to run the family around the mountains. I swore up and down I was done lifting and modding! Honest honey I will just leave it stock!

It started with timing belt, all fluids and lengthy exterior detail just perfect. Then it happened. I had a transmission built for one of my rods and had it shipped to work. Drove the 4R to work and loaded it in the back to bring it home and the damn thing kept hitting the bump stops. That was it! I fought off the lift bug for a few nights searching for the best stock fix. I'm just going to replace the stock springs and struts/shocks and that's it. Well, the SS Highlander kit is stock and it will give the 02 a little stock lift that would work, right?? But, look at the price of the highlander kit... for just a bit more you could piece together the Tundra/LC option. So I priced out all the parts and weighed pros and cons and for just a little more...you get the idea.
After swearing I would stay stock I placed my order today with Toytec. I have the new "Boss" kit on the way. I went with the 600lb springs in front just in case I feel like my front bumper might need to be replaced...you know to protect the family in the mountains if we should hit a deer or something not to mention a winch just in case. I chose the superflex coils with the Bilsteins for the rear. It should all be here this week. I will give a full review.
Now since the best value to replace the old saggy worn out suspension just so happened to lift the truck ever so slightly and the brand new Michelin's latitude tours are not extreme winter rated they should be replaced for family safety too. I think Good Year Duratrac's would be a good choice for safety. I cancelled the stock size Blizzaks and put some Duratracs on hold.
Once you do a lift and get bigger tires might as well get wheels too. After a bunch of research I settled on a wheel produced for FN Wheels. I talked with Justin at FN about the Konig Countersteers. The color I wanted was out of stock until the end of March. Bummer! Then he said they have a new wheel called the Five Star. The offset is a -25 and 16x8 rim size so no need to worry about spacers and they clear Tundra brakes. They weigh just over 18lbs and the light gunmetal color should match well with the fender flares. They will be here this week and I will get some pictures up when they arrive. Great service from FN, Justin even took time to talk with me on Saturday night!
