I was going to leave it stock this time build thread

Gonna be going through quite the transformation soon! I also agree that a mild lift doesn't effect the mpg's too much. Adding weight will. And especially the load rating of your tires.

Those wheels are gonna look sick!

nice 67 chevelle...

Thanks! We call him Jack the Black Pearl. Good call on the year, better let him out of the closet though. Lol

A build update:

I can count on one hand the times I have had a project go off without a hitch. You know, things go so smooth that you think you must have screwed something up or left something out. Well, today wasn't one of those days.

New FN Wheels with the Duratrac load range c for lighter weight

Like I said above today wasn't one of those days...went to Discount Tire early to beat the rush and get the lift installed at home after. I got the new rubber mounted up and put on the Runner. Loaded all the wheels and tires in the back and got ready to head out. Well, turns out that if you try to run 265/75/16 on a 16x8 rim with a -25 offset you will not only rub up front you will tear off your front flares. If you stay stock height you would need to trim, trim, and trim. This tire size will work on a oem wheel I have heard but a big negative ghostrider on the -25 offset. Needless to say the boys at D/T did not want me to try and drive it home that way. Back into the shop and they switched out the new with the stockers and I loaded up again. Onward to home finally! Time to get this rig lifted up so I can put my new rubber on!

I did put the lift on today! Looks sweet! Just need to do the diff drop in the morning.

Freaking sick transformation within such a short time. I wish I will be able to have such an awesome wife and be able to build freaking sex on wheels like you already/are in the process of doing dude lol.

Are the "Boss" coilovers a 2" or 2.5" coilover? I really look forward to hearing how you like the Superflex coils, ive been throwing the idea of swapping my 890s for them.

Thanks! I will tell you this it took me two tries to get the right wife! I always try to learn from my mistakes! :trophy:

Hey Nathan, I took before and after measurements and will post it up. Toytec sets them up at 3 inches of lift and the superflex coils net about 3.75-4 inches. I was going to drive a bit before really measuring but after switching out the already low 2002 suspension I got at least 4 inches in the front and the rake is hard to detect but haven't really driven it yet to see if front settles in. Nice thing about it is all you have to do is take out the spanner wrenches and dial it up or down to your liking. There is still room to crank them up now. I really did a ton of research on all the kits out there and wanted to keep it as cheap as possible. This wasn't the cheapest option for sure but, the price to value is the best imo.

Just looking at the superflex coils installed the tightly wrapped top coils under normal load are compressed quite close together and the lower looser wrapped stay the same. My guess is the top will do its work upon unloading allowing more travel. The loaded weights and ride height are on the Toytec site. I going to do some testing loaded so we will see the true colors of these springs. They don't look as beefy as the 890's do they? Thicker than stock by not by as much as you would expect for their touted capacity. Time will tell!

I love those wheels, i cant wait to see them on your rig! And It's good to see some more 267 75 16 duratrac users. I just got mine but am getting kinda remorseful seeing all the guys with that sexy wide tire stance the 285's, deliver lol. I keep telling myself I don't have to trim, re gear, and I get better mpg's with these, but yeah good stuff man!

Diff drop is a breeze. I think that took us the shortest amount of time with the whole lift. Get it done and post those pics haha!

Thanks for the detailed response! When i asked about the 2" or 2.5" i was referring to the actual coilover body. Most high end coilovers from Fox, Icon, SAW, etc are a 2.5" body to allow for more fluid along with a larger piston and shock shaft. The superflex coils look like a great progressiove design but might be too tall for what i want, they do look to be a smaller gauge wrap than the 890s. Ill keep checking in to see your impressions.

I agree the diff drop was a breeze and for those that think it's not necessary it does make a difference in angle.

Here is a shot of the Superflex rear coil installed

Really close up top on the coils but will give some good travel when unloaded, as well as improved contact.

I have everything installed with some pics will updated tonight!

I will put up a full write up on the lift this week. Before you say it the running boards will stay until the sliders replace them.

On with the show!

you know i not a fan of limited runners, but this is one of the few that id be ok with

and sorry about the chevelle thing, just saw the side of the front clip. but that el camino is still sexy!

Wow, impressive. And I thought Chevelle too when I saw that first pic, I don't know why but when I see them from just the front I never think El Camino. Nice though.

Great build so far. You went with almost the exact same wheel/tire/suspension setup as I did. The wheel color really compliments your Limited flares/cladding. Keep it up man!
