Icon 2.5 Piggyback rear shocks hitting the sway bar!!!!

I'm so disappointed at this point about my Icon Piggyback rear shocks. It was raining hard on friday here in socal, so I decided to take my t4r out to Holy Jim for some fun. When we stop to take a hike to the waterfall I noticed both the reservoirs are facing forward and I also noticed scratches on the reservoir can from it hitting the sway bar :mad2::mad2::mad2:. I tried to move it back to the side and I was surprised how easy it is to turn the shock around when it wet. :noidea:
I had tighten them down really good and the shocks doesn't move around when they are dry. Well I called Icon and they told me to tighten it down some more and there is nothing they can do for me at this point :mad2::mad2::mad2:
I know Icon make some bad ass product I had the front coilovers and I love them wouldn't trade for anything except for long travel :biggrin2: I know CYi5 had the same problem but I don't know if his is hitting the sway bar or not.
Does anyone with these shocks ever had the same problem with the reservoir moving forward and hit the sway bar?

Oh I was scared as fk when I was getting out the trail, I had to stop on the trail every 5 mins to check and rotated them backward so they don't hit the sway bar.

this is why I ordered mine with remote reservoirs. I tried tell the design guys at ICON about this problem when I ordered my remotes reses. I took off my swaybar anyways. The bummer is even even if you take off the swaybar they can spin around and still get smashed by the control arm. If you ever do get remote reses instead you still have to remove the sway bar, get rear wheel spacers and grind down the mount for the rear bumpstop. On that long note I still wouldn't trade my ICON setup for anything. Here is a pic of my setup.

Well I had this conversation with a member( I can't remember his username) on here that is friend with the owner of Savage Offroad and he told me a couple of his friend had the same problem and the damage was worst than mine. He told me that the reservoir at some point came off while they were on the trail.

Yeah that was me. I am friends with Roy from Savage. One thing you could try doing is loosely hose clamp the piggyback to something so it cant spin around but still move somewhat freely up and down. Just an idea....

I will try to tighten it down some more but I don't think there is much to be tightened and i will test it again with water to see if it still spins freely.

Oh why couldn't they switch the piggyback to remote resi already....:yell::yell:

Edit, yeah they don't move at ride height, Guess they could move at full extension. They are at the same spot I set them 3 years ago, with a bunch of off-road miles on them.

You are sure they are fully charged up and top nut properly secured?

Lose the rear sway bar. Its not bad at all onroad and not noticeable offroad. I was wheeling yesterday and had no issues, and at some points, blasting 30mph down a winding dirt trail with whoops. Tons of fun but still safe.

Just for reference, I do not have Icon in the rear, just front, but still, ditch the rear sway bar. you'll like it. It's like not wearing pants. You take them off, you don't want to put them back on.

Yes, they are charged at 250psi, they only move when the top bushings contact with water. It was really easy to move the shock around in wet condition. Once it dry out they become stiff and harder to rotate them around

I will leave my swaybar on lol, if i take the swaybar off the shocks will rotate and hit the LCA.

I would dry the bushings out, set the shock in place, then put some silicone sealant around the bushing surfaces so water can't get between the mounting surfaces.

I'm still wondering why these are better than my Landcruiser shocks I have in the rear as part of my SS 1.2 kit ???????

I've had my truck lifted now with LC shocks for 6+ years and I've gone everywhere with my current rear setup.

I have nothing but great things to say. And each shock is like $60. I feel like it is the perfect setup.

I just called Icon and they told me either return the shocks or pay to have them custom made like masson74, oh well **** it I'm done with this shit. I'm taking them off and return them. This is obviously Icon design flaws, on the 2nd gen they have the piece of aluminum on top the shock bolted to the frame to prevent the shock from rotating around. Oh well I might sell my front coilovers too:redbrick::redbrick::redbrick::redbrick:

Why sell the fronts. They work fine. No?

I'd send them the rears and when they send you the replacement rears just sell those.
