I'm also interested in getting these shock boots before I install the rears.
Do you guys think the fronts need boots? Seems strange that they don't come with them...

Which UCA's are you using? Maybe the ball joints are worn?

Silly autocorrect. And how do you know exactly that it's coming from the shock? There is a lot of moving parts in there.
But if you don't know how that would have anything to do with it nevermind.

Hm, don't think I complained about a specific noise in this thread, but it is a never ending battle to keep the noises at bay, between the spherical bearings, uniballs, and poly bushings. I keep several types of spray lubricants at all times to mitigate any seriously annoying noises.

Sorry, I did not mean to cause a fuss. It was a noise, nothing major... was just curious if it was common.
I knew it was the shocks because they were the only new part on the front of the truck and I had just washed it.... and the noise started after that. It was a new noise that had never been there before.
It went away when I sprayed some lube on the shaft. Some of the lube may have leaked down to the the lower mount bearing... Really no big deal overall.
I wheeled the truck today and never heard the squeaking noise. The truck performed amazingly well and crawled up things like it has never before.
The LT rear + the ICONs is a game changer off-road. It basically went from a truck that was solid on level 4 trails to being solid on level 5. I know that is a really vague over simplification... but the suspension basically brought the entire system together and the truck actually kicks some butt now. A front and rear bumper + 35s and it would be unstoppable. It's good enough for me (for now).

Do you think those would fit a LT shock. There are no specs given, so not sure how to tell if they would fit...

Thanks, just ordered some, can't go wrong for $12 to avoid a leaking seal down the road. Why they don't include something like that is a bit mind blowing when you think about it. I don't think you need them for the style that have the rod at the top. This is my first set with this orientation.

My lower shock shafts got beat to hell out in Death Valley but don't think I would get boots. I would rather go with the ICON shin guard. But they definitely need some protection when running the desert.

I started with nothing and killed the seals and shafts on my first set in like 12k miles. I got the shin guards for the second set, which lasted longer, but enough rocks struck above the top of the shin guard to kill the seals on the 2nd set, too.

I feel comfortable running the boots alone, they are pretty thick, I would think it would stand up to anything my tires might kick up.
Now of you manage to grind a huge bolder up there while crawling.... IMHO it didn't look like the shin guards would help there anyway
The shin guards might protect the joint at the bottom of the shock shaft some though.
I was thinking I'd make some if necessary but the boots seem to be doing great so far
