Ideas on Fixing A Cat Problem

I'm getting tired of finding cat paw prints on my 4runner. The first weekend I had it (and after I Zaino'd it) I found a cat crawled on it, and scratched it down to the primer. What makes it worse is that they're climbing on the hood which is what I like to keep the cleaniest/shinest.

Since I park in a garage at home, its not happening at my house. They must be crawling on my car when I'm at work, or out and about. Anyone have ideas on what I can do to eliminate this problem?

Catch it in the act and squirt it with water. You could try to sprinkle pepper all over your car........jk

You might try getting a battery operated SCAT MAT and fastening to your hood w/ magnets... (the mat is vinyl and if magnets are placed on top, they won't scratch your paint) it's typically used for keeping animals off furniture and countertops and gives them a mild "corrective static discharge" when they come in contact with it. Our cats hate it, and it works well. It has three different settings, (I used the highest) and I was curious how much of a charge a 9V battery would give.. shocked the h*ll out of me! Imagine what the cat felt.. certainly motivated it to stay away!

Completely useless but and definitely won't work for ya but good to know...

To keep cats from roaming the cabinet tops and dining table tops, you place sheets of alum foils (the regular good ol reynolds stuff or whatever you have). The cats do not like the feel nor do they like the look of it so they'll make sure not to come back.

It works indoors and in the garage as it's been rested and approved

But since you're activities are not in your household, I really don't know what you can do... ??!?!

Or perhaps Toyota can begin to offer this as an "anti-cat" option on it's cars... Ford took a beating for this commercial that made it onto the web:

Get a cat scat mat. It is an electrified door sized mat you place on your hood, window, roof, etc. The backing is soft.

When the cat makes two contacts when stepping on the mat, ZAMO!

Like putting you tongue on a 9 volt battery. I even think they have a cigarette lighter adaptor for when you are not close to your home/gargage.

This scat mat sounds promising. It isn't practical for daily use, but it is when I park overnight/2-3 days. (I switch to a company car once at work.)

To be honest I didn't think anything like that existed. I was really just posting because I wanted to vent...

One idea a guy at work gave me was something he uses for squirrels. Our property management doesn't feel stray cats are an issue. So, this guy suggested that I start putting corn around the car, after letting it soak in anti-freeze.

I'd really rather not actually KILL the cats... I just want them to say the hell of the car.
