I'm new to the 4runner world and am looking for ideas. I recently purchased a 92 4runner it has a lot of miles almost 300000. Everything is stock right now. Need to replace a head gasket but after that I'm not sure what i want or should do with it. Outside and inside is very clean and she was well taken care of with regular maintenance.

That's a pretty clean looking runner, is it an auto or 5 speed?
Once you get it running and driving you will slowly find out what you want or sometimes need to do to a 300,000 mile vehicle. Are you looking to take it off the pavement and explore or are you looking to get into wheeling? Either way one of the first things I did to mine was ditch the running boards and got some 31" all terrain tires.

Welcome! Thats a clean truck you have.
What are your intentions with it?
Will it be a d/d? Using it for road trips, camping/offroading?
No matter what you use it for i would give it a full tune-up (plugs,wires,all fluids,belts,hoses).
If your taking care of all of that with your HG replacement i would look into some bigger tires and armor( as already stated and assuming it wont be on pavement its whole life.
If your unfamiliar with offroading wheel it like that for a while until your skill level is ready to take the next step(lift,lockers)

You should baseline the maintenance (fluids, plugs, steering, etc), and then you should drive it. :thumb:

If you're talking about modding for wheeling, restrict yourself to only what you need to make the truck do what you want it to do, and understand that everything you do to it will have tradeoffs somewhere else. If you're going to wheel it, nearly everything you do to make it a better wheeler will impact it's streetworthiness, so if it's going to be a daily driver too you should keep the mods to a minimum. Little bit of armor, maybe, and some AT tires, and go have fun. Down the road you'll have a better idea if you need more from the truck, and how to get it.

If you're just trying to make it "cool", do whatever. It's your truck, you don't need anyone else's approval.

I agree with everyone else. Take care of the regular maintenance items and the other things needed to make it a reliable vehicle. Drive it like that for a while and upgrade as needed to suit your needs. My ’86 is nearly bone stock and is just fine what I use it for (weekend home improvement store trips, occasional exploring of trails ,etc.).

I should be replacing the hg today or tomorrow then I'll be driving her again.. I'm looking to turn it into a camping/offroad vehicle. It will be my daily driver but i will probably buy a car sometime soon. It is a 5 speed. I'll keep everyone posted, thanks for the ideas..

...something else to add (just as a personal opinion) but it might be a good idea to put some money aside (vs. spending it on a bunch of mods right now) in case you run into any major issues/repairs as you begin to put some miles on this thing. With 300k on the clock, I know that would be on the back of my mind.
