Hey all,
Driving through town this weekend and noticed a squeak coming from the center of my Runner. Not a whole lot of moving parts toward the center of the truck. I thought it was probably the driveshaft or maybe a broken exhaust hanger.
Here's what sets a driveshaft squeak apart from the various other parts that may be candidates: Conveniently the driveshaft squeak is audible at low speeds. Drive a few miles per hour, slow enough to count the number of squeaks per one revolution of the rear wheel. Have a passenger look out the window to do this. If it's the driveshaft, the number of squeaks per tire revolution will be the same as your axle ratio. Now grease it!
