We were talking about this in my build yesterday a bit. About selling.

My number would probably be $17k

I wouldn't let my truck go STRICTLY because I know what has and what hasn't been done to it. I know its been pampered. I know which parts have been replaced and every inch of my truck has been inspected by me. I am very thorough and would consider my truck to be in prestine running condition. Have never had puttering issues, CEL issues, nor has it left me on the side of the road.

I would kick myself if I sold it for $8,000-$10,000 (High numbers) and bought a newer car only to leave me stranded. I would miss my runner too much. Her and I go way back. She has never screwed me over, I would never get rid of my faithful woman.

If I gave it to my child and he/she sold it, I would force them to buy a Geo Metro with the money.
And I'm not stupid, I would make them park it in front of my neighbors house.

I would let it go for 15,000 even though that's real high it's worth that in my opinion haha just because I love it so much. I might post it on craigslist at that price just to see if anyone would give me that haha.

Honestly, if someone for real offered me $1450 for it right now, I'd might consider selling it.

"invested" and "4runner" are two words I really avoid using in the same sentence...esp when there are numbers involved. having a 5 speed, I dont think it would be easy for someone to give me the right price. but i'd take 11k prob.

Well we obviously have different meanings of "too far gone to fix" then. Haha buy another one and turn the totaled one into a trail only rig.

Honestly, then I would just buy an FJ or maybe a DC Tacoma. I'm too picky in what I would want and it took me long enough to find the first one. Don't think I'd be willing to invest that amount of time again. Especially if I'm then without a vehicle.

No we don't, i meant too far gone in any terms, and that generally means there is nothing left of the A,B,C, and D pillars, and the crushed roof is touching the crumpled quarter panels.

I've got about $12k into mine so i'd take that. Its definitely not worth that much IMHO. That also doesn't count the countless hours of work i put into it.

Buy it back and turn it into a buggy or part it out. I think that is about the only scenario that would cause me to get rid of it.

At least around here, 3rd gen 4runners are a dime a dozen. You can't sit on a busy street corner and not see at least one. So if someone offered me more than fair market value, I would sell it and buy another one. I have sold vehicles that I was far more attached to. I even sold my old race car built over a period of 5+ years knowing full well the guy I sold it to was going to scrap it for parts. C'est la vie
