The master install (bearing) kits are necessary when you guys do gears on diffs as old as ours so add another ~$400 for the front and rear together. You could get by without them, but using your old bearings is risky and it would suck to have a bearing go out in a year or something and have to pull it all out and do it again. I doubt most shops would give you a warranty if you choose to not buy the install kits.

The effin diff has been sitting in my back seat for months...my buddy who welds and cuts just went into the police academy so his free time is few and far between for the next 3 months...soon, though...very soon...

Me personally, I'd do SAS conversion. But then again, I already have all the other mods.

So the total estimate came out to $3,800. Here's an updated list of the stuff I will be buying.

• Shrockworks Front Bumper w/ lights- $1328

• Perkins Performance Rear Bumper w/o tire carrier- $735

• Savage off-road sliders w/ Kickout- $318

• Sport Hood- $200+ for parts + Paint price

• Fixing damaged body- $300

Still unsure of what to do with the ~$600 leftover. I might save it because the 33's I picked up off of craigslist will only last me half a year at most. But other options could be:

• Lightforce Lights

• Off-road skid plates

• Tundra Brakes

• Recovery Gear- Shovel, Axe, Hi-Lift, winch

I'd do full skids or brakes.....

X2 on the full skids. The full set from BudBuilt is ~$630 shipped and they are awesome. I recommend asking him to cut a 3" hole for the oil drain access like I did - perfect size to not have to take it off to do oil changes and it's still well protected. I got to try them out for the 1st time last weekend and they are solid!

Yea I saw your budbuilts they look very nice brian. Any reason why I should go with budbuilts over skidrow (or other brands for that matter)? I'm still kinda debating a rear tire carrier and yours looks dope. Does that carrier kinda get in the way of your rear vision? Do you have any pics? Armor would be nice but I think it might be better to have some nice tires.

Thanks! Right next to my avatar, there's a link to my photo album that I just made this week that has a bunch of pics of the truck and the bumper. The tire does make it harder to see, but it's actually not as bad as I thought it would be. I can still back up ok.

The Budbuilts' 2 pieces cover about 1.5-2 ft. more than the SkidRows' 3 pieces. I just compared mine to simigeology's skids on his taco (same as the 4runner's) and I was pretty surprised how much more the Buds covered. The SkidRows' t-case skid does have some side protection that the Buds don't have, but then again rocks aren't coming at me from the side, they're underneath so I personally think that feature is null. The Buds are fully bolt-on using all factory holes, the SkidRows you have to drill a bunch of holes. The buds are ~$630 shipped, the SkidRows are about ~$750 shipped. Plus Bud is a Toyota-only shop (which I like to support) and a great guy to deal with so I highly recommend going with his product. I have nothing against SkidRow and either product will do fine, but I'm very glad I got Buds.
