I am fairly sure that is the exact result the system wants. This is a bad position to be in for the common person. The politicians and their big contributors are really just dolled up sociopaths.

This. In a normal year I'd be against a third party because puppy-crusher (in a three way race the small breed party and the large breed party split the dog loving vote 33%-33%, allowing the puppycrusher party to win with 34%).

But this is not a normal year.

What you have is two candidates who are not merely unpalatable, but detestable, authoritarian and corrupt to the core, and they are being forced upon us by the establishment of both parties. The DNC was in the tank for Hillary from day one and actively worked to quash opposition and anything approaching a real Democratic process. Trump was definitely not the establishment pick to start, but once it became clear that they had to choose between Trump and Cruz, they chose Trump because they knew he would play ball and let them keep their power. This was demonstrated this week when States like Utah, where Trump lost in landslides and didn't earn a single delegate, had their entire delegations recorded as Trump votes. So much for the "will of the people".

A recent poll showed Clinton and Trump in a dead heat, with half of Clinton voters stating they were only voting for Hillary to stop Trump, and half of Trump voters saying they were only voting Trump to stop Clinton. If you do the math, that means 25% are actually pro Trump/Clinton and 50% are neither. If there ever was a year for the voters to tell the the political establishment to $@#& off, this is it. A third party candidate could win with 50% versus Hillary and Trump each getting 25%.

While I'm generally sympathetic to the libertarian position, I strongly disagree with Johnson on several issues, but a. he's in third place and therefore has the best chance, b. he's not carved from pure evil like 1 and 2, and c. he's the best chance we're likely to have in our lifetimes to turn the table upside down on these *******s who keep giving us terrible, terrible candidates.

So, the op's question basically boils down to choosing between eating a shit sandwich or a shit sandwich with cheese. I'll be choosing the liverwurst sandwich named Gary Johnson. I don't like liverwurst, but it's a lot better than shit, no matter what you put on top.

If enough if us make that choice, there is the real possibility that we won't be eating shit for the next four years.

Little bubbles, the goldfish, its been fun. Fck it I am writing in my name. I could do a hell of a lot better job then either of the two candidates we have. I wont even vote 3rd party, just Jdog for president.
 
It's only the Hillary camp that is making that assertion. It was a foolish one at that. The DNC servers were better secured than her personal server and she claimed that was not hacked. Now is she going to walk back that statement?

In fact the person that is replacing the head of the DNC said she knew nothing of any Russian conspiracy theory. It just Hillary trying to duck another coconut cream pie.

After doing some reading. Wills said he would leave the Republican Party if Trump is the nominee. He has a very strong distaste for the man. I would not put it past him to side with who ever had the best chance to beat Trump.
