I keep asking.....is this the best 2 people in this great country to be our next commander in chief ????

This election cycle is beyond sad, and actually very depressing.

To answer the original question, keep the damn goldfish.....I'll get another one. :suspicious:

good god both options are absolutely intimidating. the whole thing is quite amusing to watch but it scares me to think of the consequences...

I did. And being the calmer of two children throwing tantrums doesn't mean that one side was "a red faced petulant little child" while the other was "calm, cool." Like I said above, I do think Pence had a better presence overall, but to think the line between the two was a huge one is completely delusional in my opinion.

I didn't watch it, but the reports im seeing, are saying 70 to 40 for interruptions. but how many of those 40 were pence just trying to take back his own time to talk? would that count as an interruption?

I would say if you would like to be the most informed, watch it for yourself. And do your best to watch it as impartially as possible. I like Thefishguy77's theory on reading it, but I think doing both is your best bet. There are many things you can pick up in watching how people respond or react vs something written down.

Tim Kaine v. Mike Pence: Who Interrupted More in the Debate?

*edit* The above link is to a Time article on the debate. It does a great job of presenting it because you can actually directly link to each interruption counted as well as it has the transcripts for the debate. For any of those who don't want to click it or read it, they tallied 46 for Kaine and 59 for Pence.

Does Hillary being a "better liar" make her any more appealing? Would you rather know when you're being lied to or do you want it to be a surprise?

No. Hillary is a lying POS also, I thought we were talking about the VP debate though, sooooo yeah.

We are. But both candidates are old for the job and Hilary also has what appears to be a health condition. So when your candidates are this old there is a higher chance that the VP may have to temporarily or permanently step in.

Kaines demeanor was that of a petulant little child and he literally had a red face half the debate- you can see and hear the emotion boiling over. Pence was calm and cool in comparison- albeit a fiery debate from both sides overall. Kaine looked like he had WAY TOO MUCH caffeine befoore the debate...

Kaine interrupted 70 times, nearly twice as many times as Pence. Pence speaking back against Kaine interrupting doesn't count as an actual interruption.

Watch Kaines body language and fluctuations in his voice the entire time- he could barely keep himself in his seat a lot of the time.

He was on edge and chomping at the bit the entire time. He was fired up and coming off in a rude way most of the debate.

I think you should watch it again, I did when you accused me of viewing it through a biased lens.

While we all have a bias and will perceive things relative to our opinions and bias- it is obvious to anyone watching who interrupted more, who was more emotional and who was calmer.

Perhaps I like Pence's style more; he was calmer overall and he allowed Kaine to speak without interrupting more consistenyl.

Kaine really came off as rude and couldn't keep from interrupting or showing his emotion.

And to be fair to Pence, many of his interruptions are really counter-interruptions, in which he is talking past Kaine’s interjections.

do they count as interruptions though?

Pence lacked real substance (interesting enough any substance he espoused deviated from the Trump positions which should be troubling to Trump's base) and was called on deflection & spin, hence the multiple interruptions. Got to give him his dues however, "He" and the Trump surrogates do have their work cut out for them.

I'm sure both candidates were not concerned with convincing individuals who are forbidden by US law to vote in the US presidential election...

Well, maybe not Kaine so much...

Are you her doctor or is that just basic speculation on your part?

Fair enough.

Tim Kaine v. Mike Pence: Who Interrupted More in the Debate?

"The reason for the discrepancy is that, rather than tally interruptions manually, which is far more art than science when neither candidate will cede the floor, this method uses a neutral third-party’s interpretation, looking for instances in the transcript where a line ends in an ellipsis, indicating that the next speaker cut in. The transcript uses the phrase “CROSSTALK” when things get too chaotic. In many cases, it’s possible that those counting by hand are attributing crosstalk interruptions to Kaine. And to be fair to Pence, many of his interruptions are really counter-interruptions, in which he is talking past Kaine’s interjections."

No I am not anyone's Doctor it is just speculation. But when someone has had a ongoing cough for several months then you take notice. When someone needs help walking up stairs then you take notice. When someone faints from pneumonia and they blame it on the heat 70's and go to her daughters residence instead of a hospital then you take notice. She knew she had pneumonia and yet she was giving hugs to small children. You have to be on antibiotics for 72 hr before your probably not contagious she was barely at 48 hours. Was she lying about the pneumonia or is she recklessly endangering small children for the sake of winning an election? I don't know what she has. But odds are she is ill.

This is one reason no politician does live interviews anymore. Easier to edit it to their liking.

Odd's are, then? Ok, that's cool you have a hunch or whatever. I get it.

For those keeping score of Newspaper endorsements:

Clinton: 24
Johnson: 6
None: 6
Not Trump: 2
Trump: 0

Of these, 15 endorsed Romney last time.

Thirty Former GOP Congressmen Come Out Against Trump

It's the largest group of former Republican elected officials to officially announce their opposition to the current leader of their party.

"Sadly, our party's nominee this year is a man who makes a mockery of the principles and values we have cherished and which we sought to represent in Congress," the letters states.

"At some point you have to put country over party," said Coleman. "I think he's dangerous. I think he is mentally and emotionally unfit to be president."
