Being a daily Metrolink rider (lets face it, 4runner's dont get the best milage) this train tragedy hit me personally. The conductor on that train was a 22 year veteran who was getting ready to retire. There were people on that train that were just like me; coming to work, reading the paper or talking with our fellow train-riders who some I now call friends. It just plain sucks what happened to them, and what makes it worse is that it was all caused by some selfish deranged man who feels sorry for himself and mopes around wondering why his wife and kids dont want to see him.
If you want to kill yourself, fine. Put a gun to your head. Stick a hose in your exhaust and put it in your window. Drown yourself. I really couldn't care less. Just leave us out of it. We don't care about your problems and we shouldn't have to suffer for them.

Just my opinion.

Thats the thing though... they're neglected in every aspect of their lives I guess, so they feel the need to be noticed... its a horrible logic but I guess it works for them. My opinion is to each their own as long as they don't bother/hurt others by doing it...

They shouldnt kill that guy...they should put him solidary confinement for the rest of his life so he can think about what he did everyday. Keep him nice and healthy so he has a nice long life to think about it and be haunted by what he did. I say dont give him the easy way out--the death penalty.

I agree with you Border. Keep him alive on permanent suicide watch for as long as possible. Don't leave him with shoelaces, combs, toothbrushes etc. If death is what he yearns, then remove all hope of getting it.

Even though I am on the other side of the country, I got just as angry when I heard about that story. It really angered me to think about these normal people on their way to work and the way they had to die. The guy wasn't even manly enough to stay in the car when the train was coming. I hope that guy gets life in prison and NOT the death penatly. Maybe he will actually go through with his suicide plan after the first few months of his jail stay. If you want to kill yourself, jump out of a window or overdose on drugs (heard he was a heavy drug user). Don't subject other people to your hatred of life.

Unfortunately, it will cost the taxpayers over a million dollars to keep this guy incarcirated the rest of his life. Not to mention the legal fees.

Make him join the military and place him on the front line of the mine/bomb disposal team.

We are in an all volunteer military now, everybody here wants to be here, it works great, we have all good people now.

I don't want a draft and I definately don't want some dumbass who can't even kill himself right working with my brothers in arms. Give him a clip with ten blanks and make him pull the trigger giving up on himself ten times and then send him to solitary confinment, he would be completely broken.

Bomb squad... like during the vietnam war farming families would send out their kids before plowing with the Ox because there were landmines everywhere, and the Ox was more valuable... pretty sick.

There's another problem, here. The idiot that chose to push cars instead of pulling them has some/most of the blame. if the engine was in front, it would have hit the SUV and knocked it off the tracks and the accident would have just been some bent hardware. Those jerk administrators that chose to push the cars with the engine in the back to save a turn-around are the ones that crunched up all the cars. The passengers did not have a chance with that engine comming forward after the first car slowed down.

You passengers should light your torches and march on the administrators of this operation. I'll bet they know better than every other transportation group in the world. They may be the only ones pushing cars through tracks with so many crossings. They are so much smarter than their passengers that, I'll bet, they are still pushing cars. I would not ride in a pusher train through the city on a bet. Those same adminsitrators are going to be responsible for a billion or more court losses by handing lawyers a blank check. I'll bet you that few, if any, of these jerks ride the train. It's sad that people were killed and hurt but they have blood on their hands and should answer for their decisions.
